[FR] New Message Type: Announcement

This was put forward ages ago, in the old email-based system and received a positive response.

To summarise:

New Message Type: Announcement
Colour: Purple.
Who can send them: Anyone (like orders)
Fills the need of: Often a normal message or report feels inadequate for a certain situation. This would help sort between the standard messages, which one can miss if skimming, and the important ones. Much like the orders message type.
Used for: anything that needs announcing (could be used seriously, for important events, or for humourous effect by the odder characters ;) )

Someone's living in the past...
I mean that's like a decade ago. :P

I've always wanted this. Would be very useful, I think.

- Current: Kemen (D'hara) - Past: Kerwin (Eston), Kale (Phantaria, Terran, Melodia)

It would be useful I think, but not as a free-for-all option... it should be more limited. i.e. for rulers, for dukes (to send to their duchy), for lords (to send to knights) etc.

Then again, the Report tag pretty much does the job right now IMO..

Shenron

Yeah I remember this in the d-list. I think only important people should have it though... perhaps even just the ruler himself.
My language: (Apologies for any confusion this results in.)
Awesome = Ossim
Tom = Tarm

Would say the royal council, the lords, and royals make the most sense.

I think that the current system where everybody can send Orders is much better than the old one where that was reserved for Marshals. I think the same system should apply to Announcements. I have no fear that an adventurer sending an announcement would be met with the same ridicule as if he were sending orders.
After all it's a roleplaying game.

Agreed. Most realms can self-regulate you know ;)

To the Devs/Tom: If we can agree on whether it should be realm-wide, or limited, would it be possible to get this on the todo list, and how much work would it take? (ie how long before we could expect to see it?).

Indirik

Assuming you can get the dev team to actually approve it, something like this would probably be very easy to implement. Personally, I don't see any point in it.
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.

I have yearned for something similar to this, except it's limited to council positions and functions much like standing orders do.  Yes, that would mean a potential four "stickied" messages, but you can throw them into a collapseable div element or use some other visual gimmick.

You mean like the Ruler/General/Judge/Banker Bulletins?
