Sages disappear once you get them to try and make an item -- this, to me, leads to less cooperation between adventurers, not more. Why tell other adventurers where you've found your sage if you intend to use him?

At any rate, I don't really think sage-hunting adds any fun value to the game: you spend 2-3 ticks looking for a sage because you know one was seen in your area. Maybe you finally find him, but then you're too fatigued to meet him. By the time you have enough hours to rest and visit him, he's already left for another region.

Besides I find sages far more often then I need to use them, thus I see no problem with sharing such information through our IG adventurer guild. After all perhaps next time I need to find a sage quickly to repair an item one of my fellow adventures will happen across one and share that info.

Sage Hunting now is only slightly different from before. Before I just went from region to region and hoped a sage was in one. Now there is at least a system I can work on decoding to perhaps increase my chances of being in the right place at the right time.

The main difference is that if he leaves, or if he was spotted in some region, you now know he is nearby. He won't disappear in region A and then the next time show up in region B halfway across the world.

Well its been a month since I have seen a sage and I have been actively lettering others for information and trying to follow one or two sages. Once they cross water and if you dont have the coin for highwaymen its near impossible to keep track of them. I like the concept of this new system but when It takes this long to Im losing interest. I have 5 items I want to repair and two are down to 2%... oh well. After I loose/sell the other three Im strickly hunting...

How do you encounter sages? Because I never seen one myself. Do you just bump into them when you're hunting or does it require a specific action?

It's under your Quests tab. They travel on some route.

It...is supposed to encourage cooperation in tracking sages and wizards. Not really sure how well that's working.

Galvez

The Quests tab currently only gives me the option to investigate and hunt, so I assume more option come available when there is a sage in the region?

Reviving this thread:

QuoteYou have encountered a sage, a wise man, known as Hatisusk. People say he is gaunt. It is rumoured by many that he has magical powers. He and his kind are the only people capable of repairing and sometimes even improving unique items.

Since you do not have any damaged unique items, the sage can not offer you any repairs.

In Nimh, Morek Empire, right now.

I have tracked Eldrany - the elderly Sage successfully for over a month in Astrum and the North. Then many months later I was able to find him again relatively easy to repair an item completely in little over a week.

So if you are an adventurer on the west side of the island I have posted some of my findings on 2 different sages that I have tracked for months RL on the internal boards of the "Inn at the Crossroads" in Golden Farrow and Eiduld Outskirts. Currently I am tracking the wizard Jahoren and have gained 2 scrolls from him thus far in about 5 weeks time. Those wizards want a lot of items. Ill be posting my wizard info in the next few weeks once I get back to a guild house.

It would be cool if others tracked sages as well, recorded the regions and date they went to and then shared that info in game.

Sage tracking is one of the reasons that advy guilds are so handy. Between hunt reports and sage/wizard's locations, they're worth every penny.

Perbroth the sinister was seen somewhere around Nid Tek 3 days ago, give or take. Offering a scroll of armour, then a scroll of teleportation a little later somewhere else.

I really should've checked this thread earlier, and kept more details. The poor old Royal Rangers don't have enough advies or resources these days to do what they used to. Damn enoblized commoners, taking all their precious, precious sage items with them when they became toffs. Seriously, never sell that stuff. Ever.

I didnt know about this topic or that sages could walk so far. My advy is at Corsanctum. Is worthy to post here again? Is someone collecting the data?

Likely there is no one collecting data.

However my advy does collect the data of the ones she sees to better have an idea where they might be again in her area. It has been useful. After tracking two different sages and a wizard for over 2-3 months RL each I have a fairly good idea where they might be and have used that knowledge to repair an item in less than a weeks time.
