Obviously, rumours that he was seen will
trail him, not precede. And yes, they always travel along the same ways that you do. It may not always appear that way, because, say, he only stays in a neighbouring region very shortly and you miss him there and catch him one region further out, then it might appear as if he skipped a region. But they never do.
