Some feedback on the latest set of dynamic map updates from Feb 6:

  • The mini-maps definitely seem to be much faster. Very nice.
  • The new pop-ups for realms and regions are nice. But they don't have much in the way of details. Can we got more? Population, gold, and food would be nice. If it's in our own realm, the basic stats would also be nice, like Control/Morale/Loyalty/etc.
  • Can the popups have a "close" button? Or can clicking the popup make it close? They can be difficult to get rid of, as you usually end up just opening another popup for something else.
  • Can the popup have a list of available scribe notes for that region, both battle and scout reports? These could be linked to open the report in a new tab when clicked. That's the major functionality that is missing from the new dynamic map. This would mostly solve that issue, and add some nice extra functionality over the old system as well.
  • Can the "Region Details" button open a new tab by default? I think this would by far be the preferred behavior for the vast majority of situations.
  • There is a bug in the pop-up dealing with rogue regions. If I click on Mech Alb, I get the details for it, and they are correct. Now click on Elets, a rogue region, and the popup appears over Elets, but still shows the details for Mech Alb again. Even if I close the first popup by clicking on empty ocean then click on Elets, the popup shows the details for the last region I had open. If I want to get the details for the rogue region I have to close the popup, then open it again to get the rogue region details.
  • The "realm" popup for (rogue) lists a "Capital" stat which produces a fatal error: "Fatal error: Call to a member function getName() on a non-object in /var/battlemaster/live/ajax/map-realm.php on line 32"
  • The "Flags" layer no longer works on either BT or Dwilight.
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.

um.. if you go from dynamic map ->region details... is there anyway to get back to dynamic map without hitting back button or digging through links?

that said... personally i tend to just open things in new tabs.. so not much of an issue.. since you can open tab from the dynamic map popup. i just tend to not hit back buttons anywhere if i can help it.

---
closing pop up... click empty space in bottom bar (or anywhere that isn't a link)

---
cosmetic..

duchy of X

perhaps Duchy of X

that said.. it says duchy of X in regiondetails.php anyway..... no big deal.

---
does duchy warrant its own overlay?

----
haha... overlay is interesting... if you click select region overlay, you get region details in popup. if you select realm overlay.. you get realm info... if you have both region and realm selected.. it shows realm info..

----
the rogue thingy i think doesn't only apply to rogue...  if you click around any realm, you can sometimes notice some lag of some sort where info for wrong region is displayed... not sure about any sort of pattern though... i mean.. obviously you notice that it always loads up the old popup info in the new location, then the old popup info is changed into new popup info (very quickly!)... but aside from that... seems a bit random. it seems what happens is that old popup is loaded as normal, but new info not loaded. no idea why.

Yes, the pop-ups can be greatly improved. I just solved the basic layout things and adding more information is trivial now.

Yes, I've also noticed that a close button or something would be nice.

I like the idea of adding links to relevant scribe notes. That would definitely help, yes.

No, I don't want to put targets into hyperlinks. I personally hate it to death when websites do that. I much prefer to make that choice myself. So why don't you simply middle-click? (or whatever you have put it on.)

Can you put the two bugs on the bugtracker, please? It's too difficult to keep track of bugs here on the forum.

Because it was a button. I didn't think that would work with an actual button...  :-\

Yeah, my bad. It's actually a link styled like a button. It looked nicer.

It sometimes won't depends on the HTML for the button really.

I was thinking that perhaps the region details could be displayed on the map itself, open up a larger pop up or something.
