So what is the difference between sending a feature request over the forum and over the bugtracker?

We will look at bugs on the bug tracker, and we can track the progress by any Dev member easily, as well as integrate the bug reports into the SVN comments. Bug reports on the forum will at most get a reply saying to raise a message on the bug tracker.

He is talking about feature requests not bugs.

Ahh

Well then Feature Request on the forum are for discussion. Bring up an idea here and the Devs and other players can talk it over. Once it is decided that a feature should be implemented, placing it on the bug tracker makes sure its not lost and will get implemented eventually.

But please do not place a feature request on the bugtracker unless specifically asked to.

We tend to be merciless in closing feature requests on the bugtracker if they have not been previously discussed elsewhere.

So what is the difference between sending a feature request over the forum and over the bugtracker?

The forum is for discussing ideas, but they will get swept away when new ones come in, so once the discussion has settled down and the feature has been approved by a dev team member, it should be put on the bugtracker so it isn't lost.

Feature requests posted directly to the bugtracker are regularily closed with a note to discuss the idea on the forum first.
