Feedback:

That is pretty great. Excellent work.

I think we won't be able to match the old borders precisely, so do not be overly concerned with it. Try to match them, but if deviating a little just looks a lot better, feel free to do it.

If you can get rid of the huge towers in the cities, please do it.

Try to have the cities resemble the sizes in-game. Population numbers are available. Also, the roads should, of course, connect to the cities. :-)

Zakilevo

It will be tougher with AoW2 cities. Unlike AoW1 cities, the change of size between towns and cities are not very significant.

Great! I didn't like the long straight borders myself, especially the one extending south east from Enweilios.

Yeah, thats quite easy.

Heh, both Fwuvoghor and Athol Margos in this map are village size, while Rines is city size. I've removed some buildings from the cities to make them seem smaller, and connected Enweilios to the road system. If it doesn't do the trick, I'll remove the stone wall as well.

There's a lot one can do with the detail objects, though. Check the BM:WI maps for some examples of that. A couple rocks on the coast work nicely in breaking it up visually.

My bad. I thought we were going use the map editor for Wizard's Throne, not Shadow Magic. I always thought of Shadow Magic as AoW3, with Wizard's Throne being AoW2.

I'm guessing maps produced using the editor for Wizard's Throne are not acceptable?

And Tom, how do you plan to piece together multiple map files into one image? Wouldn't there be ugly seams where the maps meet?

Careful copy paste of screenshots.

No, please use Shadow Magic. I'm not sure if the formats are compatible, if SM can import the other maps. There's not that much difference.

Putting them together the same way I've always done it. Lay it out in the editor, then make screenshots and paste those together in Photoshop.

it doesn't get used because you don't see it on the map or anywhere else consistently enough. looking up wiki is a bit of a chore. the other thing is.. 1 person will call it something and someone else call it something else. (or people might not like coming up with names.. or don't want to bother if it just doesn't get used, etc)

i wouldn't mind naming my estates in avengmil according to the name of the seas on either side... for example. don't know what they are called though... so just made up 2 names...

And I don't see anything wrong with this.

It is far more easier and consistent to have the game generate the names. I don't see many negatives about that, but see a bunch of positive things.

Easier doesn't mean better. I, for one, don't see any advantage to game-generated names, and a bunch for player-created toponymy.

Everything that *must* be named already is. What's so bad with leaving a bit of freedom to players in naming things that nobody has any reason to talk about in non-rp contexts anyways?

Also, fodder, that it "doesn't get used" is false. The people in the marroccidens use them. Why would the non-civilized northerners care about toponymy anyhow? I suspect that one of the reasons it doesn't get used in the North much is because they don't actually need to talk about sub-continents very frequently, and that naming realms is more accurate when they do need to.

Warning- Pretty large image.

Rough attempt to make part of a continent. Yes, i know, badly pasted together, and i added fluff and filler stuff.

Do we want something this scale, or smaller?

Goldpanda- is this what you want? http://imgur.com/a/gBLB6

Oh god, bigger cities = bigger e-peen tower in the new game? Eno just exactly like Grehk, except with a ridiculously tall tower...

Hi

Saw this post and I want to help.
I'm really short of time in the internet, so I didn't read the entire post, but I have a lot more at home.

I saw that you are using a game called Age of WondersII to create the new maps and, for what I saw on the web, its not that hard to work on it. I alread downloaded the game and will install it in my home  computer today.

If there are any Island to work on, I want to help.

Tom said that isn't to use the Shadow Magic right? So I don't install this?
