Really?  I like the realm layer very much, more than the flags ever did for me.
The above is accurate 25% of the time, truthful 50% of the time, and facetious 100% of the time.

I prefer the flags also, personally. The new dynamic map has lots of neat functionality, but honestly I actually like the way the old dynamic map looked better (with apologies to all those who volunteered their time to create the new ones).

Yup, really. Honestly, I rarely use the new dynamic map because it doesn't do the flags(and it still defaults to an useless view and draws up region detail boxes for every little click). The old dynamic map just works.

And if you remove the flags layer you'll end up with an situation where realms end up being recognized by color instead of a cool looking banner(not good for the atmosphere in my opinion).

fodder

colors has its advantage and disadvantages..

it's sort of easy to see a bloc of something.
you have figure out what that bloc of something means, especially if it's got bits all over the place and the name is only shown in one of the bits.

similarly flags..
can make things a bit crowded.. but it's clear what you are looking at.

This is still work-in-progress.

I do think the realms layer should display the banners of the realms.

Vellos

I quite like the new realms layer.

Wish the regions were clickable though.

Also, the old political maps don't work for me: Beluaterra, for example, is still the same map as forever ago.

Wish the regions were clickable though.

When the realm layer is active, clicking brings up realm details. Deactivate the realm layer and activate the region layer and clicking gives you region details.

Shouldn't. As long as your browser is not IE or some < 1% market share exotic, things should work.

Heh, I never take anything for granted with Opera ;-) Awkwardly though, I've tried the dynamic map again in Chrome and Firefox and encountered the same problem. I'd mention that I only play the Colonies at the moment but really that's clutching at straws. I dare say the problem is on my end somewhere >.<

Velax

There are confirmed issues with the FEI Dynamic Map, so there could be with the Colonies too.

There are confirmed problems with the Colonies map--it doesn't actually have region boundaries.

Here's a thread detailing some new regions that may get added to the map:

Yeah, I do think one of the recent updates broke the flags layer. Not that it's really important, the realms layer is probably going to replace it long-term anyways.

The flags layer is the most effective way to see what is blighted and what isn't, on BT. Blighted regions have no flags, unlike the rest of them.
