Capital secession

I was under the impression that the capital of a realm could secede, so long as there was another region capable of become capital.

This is currently not the case. Is this purposeful, or am I simply mistaken?

Indirik

Capital cities cannot secede. This is intentional.

They can, however, change allegiance to another realm.

Presumably a capital city could change alligances, then secede?

After waiting a while, yes.  You have to wait, what is it, two weeks to change allegiance again?

Interesting. What happens when a capital changes allegiance?
Born in Day they knew the Light; Rulers, prophets, servants, and warriors.
Life in Night that they walk; Gods, heretics, thieves, and murderers.
The Stefanovics live.

I believe another city is chosen as capital.
The above is accurate 25% of the time, truthful 50% of the time, and facetious 100% of the time.

I'm pretty sure the ruler has to travel to the new city and use the Move Capital option. The game does not do it automatically.

That is correct. The game will never automatically choose a new capital for you. You must do it yourself.

This applies when your capital is taken over or revolts, too.

Moving the capital costs a hefty sum of gold though, doesn't it?

Also, if the realm's capital is not under its control, it seems to still say that its capital is "Citysville". For example, when Wudenkin moved to Fronen, Bara'Khur's capital was Wudenkin for a while. If I guess correctly, after the bug that caused those who chose Realm A whose capital was held by Realm B to join Realm B, that was fixed so...people can't choose Realm A so long as its capital is not under its control? At least, that would be the case for immigrations, while duchy-specific ones would require no duchies and that would be a bigger problem anyway.
