Largest Temple(s) on EC?

Doubt the flow will become popular any time soon. Many characters despise the flow for their actions in the past. I was criticized heavily for letting it live.

Religions don't need to be popular to thrive - they just need a lack of competitors ;)

But the best thing is, there are other religions "competing" in each and every one of those realms you mention.  ;D

The problem with all this "separation of church and state" schtuff is that it makes that religion mostly pointless and unappealing. Your religion serves no purpose other than to occupy a potential power vacuum, and keep other religions from moving in. Which is, IMO, why so many religions on EC have failed so miserably.

Had I made the religion from scratch I would certainly have made it more interesting in this manner, but the religion was there when I joined and one of many anachronisms in Sirion (The realm proudly proclaims its adherance to 19th century ideology on the informaton page) is that the realm always proudly have promoted religious freedom at the same time as almost everyone have belonged to the Grove. This must have been due to theology of the religion as there is no real other explanation.

The church is not entirely apolitical though as it expects other religions to do the same and religions with secular agendas tend to end up on the evil list.
EC: Ilias, Taelmoth (Sirion)
Beluaterra: Ivagil (Melhed), Thoron (Adventurer, Fronen)
Atamara: Haniel (Adventurer, Coria)

Yet a political agenda could be as simple as securing control over a food wlsupply to end starvation in RegionX.  You would call that evil?  You monster! :P

If keeping the Flow alive were easy I probably wouldn't be interested  ::)

Not really, the Grove wouldn't call that evil as it doesn't hamper but rather help the spiritual growth of its followers. What is considered evil is to disguise a secular agenda as a spiritual agenda and trick people to fulfill your political plots in the belief that it gives them some sort of spiritual salvation or advancement.

CoH tries to spread and gain influence, but at the same time we are more defensive in mindset.  We prohibit using RTOs and in  general using faith to overthrow lords.  I can only think of two EC religions that have been declared evil, those being the CoI and the Flow.  Those religions that have used or attempted to use RTOs freely get tagged as misguided.  Like the Triumvirate was when it tried to seize Sirion lands when Jor was king of Westmoor the first time.

The Order of the White Tree is small, but alive. There's only one active priest I believe, Obito. Beyond that there are a number of temples throughout Nivemus, but besides some influence northwest Sirion and a temple in Parm, it's contained entirely to Nivemus.

As for other religions in Nivemus:
The Church of Humanity has a small presence in southern Nivemus
The Church of the Holy Sacred Grove has a sizeable presence in eastern Nivemus next to Sirion.
The Flow has a temple in one of our regions, but no followers.

Would love to see some new religions arise, maybe something a bit more extreme ;)

The Order of the White Tree has one priest, but I hope I can get a second one. It is tough competing with CoH with only one priest. It has surged in noble count though, recently and is close to 20 full members, with members in OI, Nivemus, and Sirion. Nivemus is the majority faith in 7 or 8 of Nivemus regions and has influence in Parm and Csopa, and Uzamaki has eyes on Sermbar if he gets another priest to help. I have plans to make the Order more fun but it requires some things to happen beforehand.

Oh, and if the Flow tried to make its way into Nivemus regions, he would fight them tooth and nail. He is a big hater of the Flow.

Sounds like an invitation :)

Definitely not. Especially since accepting the Flow would just be an invitation for war against half the continent. Obito has been trying to get the Flow Temple torn down, but has so far been unsuccessful, mostly due to apathy.

Well CoI was probably the most extreme religion and look where it ended up :( It was probably the most engaging and well defined EC religion. I'm trying to flesh out something to fill the vacuum it left in the south as I'm not particularly happy with CoH, the flow or the Triumvirate trying to move in :P So if anyone would like to collaborate or has any tips I would love to hear from them :)

The problem is no one really wants the church or any other religions to have profound influence on the realm. I think people are just used to the real life situation where countries are usually separate from religions.

You can't rebel or protect the church elders. I think making religion important in a realm means giving a few people a lot of trust.
