do npc suffer from starvation?

I am a monster,

Peasants are my food!

Chomp, burn then eat them-

Get it, dude?
Just stay alive and kicking, raise your voice when its needed. Through reason you can show the mistakes of others, something violence can't do.

I don't break rules, I bend them- a lot.

fodder

um... we TO'ed grehk.. there was no troop starvation message in the turn when the TO finished. (there was injury from starvation the turn before)

Maybe the men fall ill during full turn. But I am sure you get a message that "There is starvation in the region and your men can't find enough to eat." regardless of what turn it is, when you enter a starving region.

at sunset (right now), just arrived from a region that was starving (athol margos) to a region that's got a surplus, both stock in warehouse and produces surplus (avengmil)
no messages about getting supplied at all. provision stays at 0%
-----
at sunrise this morning, there was a message about using up provision

Starvation   (12 hours ago)
personal message
There is starvation in Athol Margos, so your men are forced to feed on their provisions.
-------
the sunset yesterday, entered athol margos and fought (yes.. it was starving) noticed provision was at 20%, no specific message about using up provision.

so, is it intended that a unit has to stay, stationary, in a region for a turn to resupply? or is it just a sunset thing? (ie... bug)

the unit will move out and arrive in another surplus region... by tomorrow sunrise.

Tom

re-supply, like all production things, only happens once per day at the full turn.

fodder

so supply doesn't get used up at sunset at all?

seems a bit weird in a way..

Do your peasants eat food at sunset?  Why isn't that weird? :)
The above is accurate 25% of the time, truthful 50% of the time, and facetious 100% of the time.

fodder

it's just the way troop travel works out with this... you could pass through a starving region with no provision taken, if you happen to be there at sunset rather than sunrise.

or for that matter.. you could fight at a starving region at sunset, then pop back out at sunrise... again.. no loss for attackers, but defenders will be screwed as they have to stay there.

Indirik

They don't have to stay there. They could move out just as easily.
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.

Velax

Good luck finding an army co-ordinated enough to pull that off repeatedly, attacking or defending.

Foundation

Do I hear a urban dill?

I've heard rumors that's not a kosher dill...

Tom

The criticism is valid, however.

It's not easy to fix, at it would also require tuning the amounts needed to half if the troops eat twice as often.

Velax

If it means units take starvation casualties twice a day, then no thanks. They're crippling enough already. One unit recently took 22 casualties from a single turn in a starving region, and another unit took 40 casualties in one turn. That's enough, thanks.

But what if you took 11 casualties the first turn, and 11 the second? If you're only staying in the region for a single turn, you will take half as many casualties.
