A suggestion:

What about keeping short range sea lanes (ferries) for the sake of realism and mobilization? Frankly, if two nations were separated by a mere channel, they wouldn't go as far as to build entire fleets of warships or sizable transports just to cross to the other side. They would get smaller boats - seeing as they don't need the equipment, storage, sleeping areas, food, or resources - and ferry their entire armies across, as it was a relatively short distance. Whether they numbered in the hundreds or thousands, a full fleet wouldn't have been needed for such an endeavor.

Well, I don't see it as fleets of warships... more like nobles renting a few merchant ships to transport his men. I don't think the sea distance would matter too much... the medieval armies didn't travel exactly 'light' of baggage! Probably a nightmare to fit all kind of baggage-things on the ships...
:P

Nice ideas, i'd like to point out that there are already names for the water ways around Madina, or atleast these are the names used in the past:

Please map them to the sea zones for me, and I will shift the other names somewhere else.

Zakilevo

Zone 8: Sea of Azurite or Azure Sea
Zone 9: Golden Coast
Zone 10: Bow Coast
Zone 11: Central Sea
Zone 12: Shattered Shores
Zone 13: Swirling Coast
Zone 15: Sand Sea

Tom

Shifted, added and the remaining sea zones added.

There is intentionally no zone at the far left. Those seas near and north of Zuma lands are dangerous waters that no ship dares to sail. Mostly, we left too little space on the map.

There's as much space as on the eastern side, really. That inner lake could also become a sea zone.

Oh... and conveniently the Zuma avoid the vulnerability of sea invasion that everyone else gets to have?  ::)

Because there are a crap ton of realms just itching to invade the Zuma, and only the inclusion of Zuma sea zones will unleash them?

That's a very good point.

Are there going to be sea zones on the outside of northern Dwilight as well, so that one could sail from Flowrestown to Storm's Keep to Echiur?

Also, an additional idea to prevent "ninja fleets" from being completely reliable--why not have delayed notifications of travel, such as:

"Fishermen on the Black Sea bring reports of several large sailing vessels." Have them be delivered with the turn reports and have them only report about 20% of the time.

(Probably falls under future implementation, but I thought I'd mention it now).

Refresh your maps.

Not necessary. The requirement of provisions should keep that very limited.

Are harbors buildable yet?

Yes, I just built one in Libidizedd.

Can one of the devs put the price of each of the new buildings and their upkeep? Thanks to whoever does it.

There is no fixed price for these kinds od buildings. The more buildings you have, the more the next one will cost. So if something costs 500 when you have no buildings, it may cost 1000 if you have 8 buildings.

Having said that, it cost me 1180 to build a harbor in Libidizedd. The Shipyard is about 200 cheaper, but I didn't build it yet.

Also, the harbor has an upkeep of 10 gold per week.
