Sea travel will change everything!

Not really, but it is a big change.

Charles

It will change the vulnerability of many areas.  Small islands will become harder to hit and larger islands with few old sea routes will lose their choke points.

Indeed, D'Hara will be far more vulnerable: practically indefensible, IMHO.

If townslands cannot have shipyards, then Aurvandil will be able to pwn Terran even more than they already do.

Not to mention the diplomatic implications.  This will make it much harder to passively prevent a war ("You can't travel through our lands, but we want to stay at peace with both side!"), which is only to the good.

Others have voiced the exact opposite fear.

Townslands can have both harbors and shipyards.

I might be wrong, but Asylon southern coastal regions lack a sea zone?

I think this will finally bring realms like Iashular and Fissoa into the game. Two regions commonly far away and secluded will now be able to stretch out or at least be offensive or defensive.

Or Arcaea >:D

But it will still be risky to attack around though. You can only stay in the ocean for 5 days... And what will happen if you lose in their land? Run away through the sea? :o

More stuff to think about before actually executing them.

Tom

Exactly. A sea invasion is a high-risk gamble. It can pay off tremendously, but you could also be sending your army into a death trap. You've not yet seen what casualties are possible when you attack a heavily defended region - they are absolutely brutal. Invading a fortified region from the sea is like playing russian roulette - with trebuchets.
