That doesn't mean it wasn't stilled ruled by an Emperor . . . I can't recall if they were, though.  Svunnetland was.  One of the other oldbies might have a better memory than I, I wasn't around at the very beginning.

Quite possibly. And in-game Velax has referred to the previous Arcaean Empire several times. He does not claim this to be the first one.

The formation of the Arcaean Empire has just been announced, and Velax de Vere crowned as the first Arcaean Emperor.

The Empire is a federation of closely-knit realms whose Kings and rulers owe allegiance to the Imperial Arcaean Crown and the Emperor. The first realms of the Empire are Arcaea and Coralynth.

perfect!  Can you post the coat of arms so I can add it to the timeline?

Sorrain has counter-attacked and destroyed four Ohnar units, stopping their attempt to take two bordering Sorrain's regions (Hosiel and Upasael). Now the main armies of Ohnar and Sorrain are front to front... a big battle will be fought in the next hours!

Gustav Kuriga

In a brilliant and daring manuever, Crown Prince Henzo Kuriga of Sorraine split his army in two, sending a couple nobles to Larodais while the rest of the army attacked Sanzzos. This has left the enemy army in chaos, as they struggle to comprehend the magnitude of this strategic move. With much of the food that would have fed their city in Sorrainian hands, what can Ohnar West do but watch as their city starves?

Ohnarian Forces attempt to sack the Sorrainian city of Akanos. Without the support of the Sorrainian army, Margrave Yarvik suffers moderate wounds while leading a heroic defense of the city. The Ohnarians are driven back from the fortifications, but manage to save much of their army from destruction. Will they risk a second assault on the mighty walls of Akanos?

However, the real question is: where is the main battle army of Sorraine, the Crusaders of the Flame? Why were they not in Akanos to defend the city?
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.

Breaking news,

The Crusaders of Flame were spotted attempting to assault the Ohnarian capital. Apparently their false god was not with them and they were driven from the city, and their stragglers mercilessly hunted down.
Life is a dance, it is only fitting that death sing the tune.

Gustav Kuriga

The Crusaders of the Flame probed the defenses of the capital, and finding them not worth assaulting, have decided to starve the fools from their city.

Velax

Ohnar West and Sorraine attacked an enemy city each (Akanos and Sasrhas, respectively) and failed due to lack of siege engines and poor movement rates.

Gustav Kuriga

Yay! We got two biased and one objective report for the same events! Excellent.

Velax

Actually, three biased and one objective. :P
