Not a modern day comparison, but I'd say Oritolon was Late Imperial Rome. We've just gotten over a succession of devastating crises. Civil war, invasions and all the rest. Now we're currently enjoying a brief period of stability and prosperity again but really this is just the interlude. It probably won't be long before the barbarians are at the gates and Oritolon finally falls apart completely. If we're lucky, Oritolon will survive through a small enclave around Alowca before eventually being swallowed up by an emerging superpower many centuries later.
