I don't really understand the mechanism for finding sages. With my advy on Beluaterra, I learned from rumors that there was a sage in the region next to him. I travelled there, but I got there the hour that the turn runs, and had 0 hours left in my time pool, so I couldn't do anything. He moved after the turn ran, but when I listened to rumors about 8 hours later (when I next logged on) no one seemed to have a clue where he'd gone. All there was was a line under quests saying the sage had passed through. I spent 4 hours on rumors and got nothing. I read somewhere that there was something about the time pool involved, but I never really got it... Help?

Time pool mattered for the old sage system so forget about that. Now the reason you can't find the sage right now is that is between the region you are and a bordering region, ie its traveling. It may take a turn or two but the sage will reappear in a region nearby.

Ooooh, ok. I thought that they were like nobles or something, and just appeared in an adjacent region as soon as they left the first one. Thanks!
