Unit Naming on SMA Dwilight

On the wiki page about Dwilight and SMA, it says unit names like '*^*RTN*^* Luluzluzluz' are inappropriate. That said, what about names like: '1st Regiment, Black Company'? Is including any kind of army designation inappropriate, or only acronyms and silliness?

Indirik

The name should be something pronounceable, and an actual name. -=<GFG>=-, *!RF!*, etc., are neither pronounceable or a name.

Seems fine to me, though it should be noted that it is the Titans who receive SMA reports. That said, I'd be surprised if someone reported that unit name.

Gustav Kuriga

I think that might actually be reference to a book called the Black Company by Glen Cook. Considering that the atmosphere between the equivalent of nobles in that book are similar to Battlemaster, I find it a very appropriate name.

Or the British army.

Or any army, really. It's entirely generic and appropriate.
After all it's a roleplaying game.

Perfectly fine.

What we don't want is clan tags and other gamey nonsense on the SMA island.

No, and they're also completely unnecessary. Everywhere that it matters, the army name or banner is displayed anyway.

This.  The banners for armies were added specifically so that stupid looking tags would be unnecessary.

Some armies are split into squads for certain assignments though, so tags could be useful to distinguish them (playing devil's advocate)

Indirik

Put them into a different army.

Tags are not acceptable, period.

You can name squads, no problem. But I don't want to see any "[TF] Unitname" in this game, no matter the reasoning.

What about making unit names required to reflect which squad or army they are in.

There are banners/flags for army.  There is no recognized "squad" mechanic.  Therefore they either remember who they are with or a new army should be made.

So Tom, tags aren't allowed on any continent? Who do we report that to, if anyone?

You can name the units "Unit name, 1st company" and "Other unit name, 2nd company". But you cannot name them "~[1C]~Unit name" and "~[2C]~Other unit name".
