Shipyards

So... Aurvandil's naval attack on Terran's capital has proved rather devastating. It has proved that any realm can land a navy close to your capital, and odds are there's no way you can pull back in time to fend it off. Then, it can just TO the closest harbor region and sail back home, piece of cake...

It's my understanding that shipyards are meant to fend off this kind of thing? So when can we expect shipyards to go live?

How would shipyards stop huge amount of ships?

Anaris

The purpose of shipyards is to allow you to patrol your coast, so you can at least have some advance warning when there are enemy troops sailing in.

In the meantime. . . lots of militia in your coastal regions should provide a very nice surprise.

"patrol" as in what, make landings harder or allow to "scout" sea zones? What will having more than one shipyard give?

I believe it is to give you warnings like "enemy troops are spotted on ships, nearing your coast".

This thread is about shipyards, not another Maroccidenian War bitch thread.
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.

Every thread is Maroccidenian War thread  :P

Don't we already have that?

Yeah, but it generates that report for incoming friendly troops too, which is kinda confusing.

Tom

And you only get the report once they are actually landing.

A shipyard would allow you to patrol the SEA ZONE, notifying you of ships passing through, their number and realm flag. No details, but at least you get 1-2 days of warning before an enemy invasion force is at your beach.

"Number of ships"? Would it be one ship per unit, with no indication of unit size?
After all it's a roleplaying game.

And when are shipyards due for?

Tom

I can not answer both of the last questions, as we are still pretty far away from an implementation.

Charles

So at this point there is no point in building a shipyard?
