Do lanterns and ropes actually do anything at all? The game says ropes are used automatically.

When you are fighting a Minotaur you can use the rope to lasso him.

I'm scared of Grues :(   Thankfully I have enough Lanterns to set up my own inn.

And it took just 8 portal stones to close a portal.  I closed at least one (maybe two) with Kaylan before I upgraded her to a noble.   Think it was the one in Mio Dupaki or Kuugl.  that was a while ago though. . .
