New Infiltrator action
« Topic Start: April 11, 2011, 10:31:57 PM »
Allow infiltrators to attack other unit types besides militia, perhaps with greater risk since they would be assumed to have greater skill.   Attacking men at arms and scouts could introduce new players to infiltrators without the risk of discouraging them from playing.  Stripping characters of scouts would be an effective action for infiltrators to use in discouraging the new player character intrusions that are being used to scout with impunity.

If you want to disable the scouts, then just stab the noble.   :D

Allow infiltrators to go on a personal peasant killing spree?

How on earth would one infiltrator kill enough peasants to make it worth his time? Your arms will get tired of stabbing, and it wouldn't affect the gold income of the region.

That would be an interesting roleplay.

I was thinking of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the wedding party massacre.

not all peasants are the same, some might be more valuable to kill and a good infiltrator who knows the region, knows that very well.

infiltrators could perhaps cause unrest in a region by killing a prominent citizen, or perhaps a merchant from a family that has lots of tensions with another merchant family.
Causing both groups to clash, presuming the other group killed there leader/respected member.
The infiltrator could even forge letters to put extra oil on the fire.

there will b:
A. a chance the assassination fails(rather small)(the chance of getting caught killing citizens is also much lower than when attacking guards or nobles)
B. A chance the unrest doesn't happen when the assassination is successful(bigger chance).

The effect will be the same like a religious clash, region stats get slightly damage. the overall effect is not tremendous.
Maybe two clashes could turn a weak region rogue, but overall the effect shouldn't be to great.

Well, there would be different scales of risk corresponding to different stealth levels, and as a consequence, different amounts of damage. For instance, low level risk might be sneaking into the homes of sleeping peasants, killing the family, moving on to maybe a few others. That might get only a dozen or so, and the effect is negligible (Which is why one probably wouldn't use it). But for the higher risk stuff, well...you know how infiltrators destroy recruitment centers and fortifications? Have him mingle around when the peasants are gathered in a field for harvest, or all celebrating in the square during a festival, or something like that, and then the casualties go up.

It doesn't have to be based solely on swordfighting. I'd expect that being an infiltrator, the sword should be among the last weapons used.

You can not stab new nobles.  They are imune to infiltrator attack and are used to do scouting due to this immunity.  I am just looking for a way to deal with this flaw which allows scouting without any means to respond to the threat it imposes.

If new nobles are protected from infil stabbing, then surely their paraphernalia/troops would also be immune to these other newly proposed infil mechanics as well. Also, I believe that new player protection only lasts for a very short time. (Two weeks?)

If you believe that people are deliberately abusing this mechanic on a regular basis, then file a report.

thats indeed very intresting! especially if the infil could make it look like its a bombing by a rival religion.
Omg, there's nothing better than a good massacre of the innocent.

It is interesting to note that the new character that had not moved since it was moved into a prime scouting position, moved away immediately after the quoted post.
