Can't appoint myself Duke as Ruler

Lost my position as Duke and Margrave due to inactivity. I'm back, still the ruler, but don't have the option to appoint myself as Duke.

Why?

Do you still have an estate in the city you were lord of?

Please report this as a bug. As ruler, you should have had your estate vacated as well, by the cleanup script.

Also, if you lost your position as duke and margrave, how did you keep ruler? You should have lost that, too.
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.

Not sure. I was absent for 10 days, but logged on probably two or three times in that time just to browse messages, etc.

IIRC the abdication period for ruler is shorter than that for lordships. If you got kicked out of Duke/Lord (7 days), you should have lost ruler (5 days).
If at first you don't succeed, don't take up skydiving.

I opened a bug report on the problem of rulers not being removed for inactivity last November. Seems it got lost amongst all the other bugs. Might be worth contributing to that bug report rather than opening a new one:
