Intra-realm fighting

It would be a good idea to be able to takeover the regions withing your own realm. Intra-realm fighting is fun and while it'd probably be a pain to write a code that allows official war between two Dukes of the same realm for example, merely allowing takeovers and looting within your own realm would allow for some fun stuff to happen. It would be a completely unofficial way of conducting war as Duke John could ride off and loot the farmlands of Duke Rob for stealing his bride, for example. Let the players deal with IC this themselves. If you put in the murderous behavior as a way to target your own realm mates, then the system would be partially implemented with (relatively) existing game mechanics.

Sorry, this is a frequently rejected item.

Indirik

Never ever. This is one of the few things that would make me quit.

This game has been trying to promote the team spirit for awhile. Do you want intra-realm fighting? Secede. You already have a mechanic to do so so go ahead! \o/

With enough player density you can use existing mechanics to create conflicts in realm. I think once player density is up we will have more potential for this. You wont be able to have a straight up civil war or TO regions but you can still have conflicts. I hope to see situations coming up later where a given duchy or guild is 100% loyal to the crown but boy do they ever hate the folks in the other duchy/guild. Then you get a bunch of group duels, maybe a few infiltrators messing people up, lots of excitement.

All of that is already possible. Infils are not bound to enemies of the realm. You can already have different 'clans' in the realm, which the ruler must juggle and if things get to worse you can have a civil war by one (or more) duke(s) secceeding. We've seen examples of these things on multiple occasions. Oligarch - Sirion is the most recent, although rather poorly executed example of this, but one nonetheless.

Considering that Oligarch is slowly turning the war in their favor... wouldn't say it's poorly executed. Especially when Oligarch has around 20 nobles, many of them ex-pats of Sirion.

That has a lot of different reasons, but the initial execution was not particularly well planned or prepared, by far not enough at least. However the point was that you have opportunities for taking actions any way you see fit. Rebel if you see no other options, or gather a group who will not participate in the war untill their specific demands are met to name but a few options.

Exactly, it's all possible mechanically but you don't see it happening much because there isn't enough player density. In order for say, two duchies to have a grudge against one another they both need to have a sense of identity and character and you need enough active characters in these duchies to carry out the conflict. This can all happen without a duchy needing to secede. You can just have a lot of duels and a few backstabs. Granted for this to work out you also need a rather permissive judge.

If you guys want intra-realm fighting, look to Might & Fealty.

As a long-time BM'er, and a very zealous MF'er. I love both games: not for their similarities, but their differences.

Each is a shining gem to behold, their own unique luster displayed in the various facets of in-game mechanics, RP mood, and general mentality.

I would not see intra-realm conflict added to BM, when we already have so many incredible mechanics to aid such a thing. Rebel underground, protects, infiltrators, and more, just to name a few!

This account is no longer in use. New account vaguely under wraps.

What about being able to stage religious conflicts that hasten betwe en churches inside and outside your own realm?

Indirik

Churches have some powers to affect lords and knights who are not followers of their faith, if they have enough followers in a region and a big enough temple there.

If you want full-on religious warfare, you will need the backing of a realm.

Indirik

You can kick a lord out of his lordship, or remove a knight from his estate (auto da fe). There are also ways to influence the locals to become unruly, or affect sympathy to other realms.

Blue Star

Easiest way to do this is become a assassin (infiltrator) and go stabbing in your own realm. Best mark to get first is your own judge, once that is accomplished you have some time to really get dirty. Granted you need to do so at the right time and when the ruler is not able to appoint one quickly election realms are key. Once this happens you have to seek nobles in regions with little militia and few men, Diplomats and courtiers are prime targets. If no one ever catches you then there is no plausibility even if you are in the same region because one they cannot accuse you and prove it. Though if someone spots you best to head for the border.
