What exactly are the criteria for a family to be able to bail someone out of jail?  Also, can one pay his own ransom from their family wealth?

Option to use family gold to ransom yourself arrives at the third day, I think, and costs twice the official ransom.

nope, your family, if they have enough gold.

Final question: How much gold must your family have until this option appears?

At a rough guess, I'd say "more than yours has". But I could be wrong. :P

I actually don't know the value... :( But it's really not very high.

Also, remember that adventurers cannot be bailed out by their family. Poor adventurers...

I've seen the option appear for Iksandros on FEI at around 1500 gold.
