Title: Make deleted family archives viewable
Summary: I was told that the game actually saves the family data of deleted families. I would be awesome to be able to view that info.
    Details: None, it's pretty straightforward.
Benefits: Players who return would be able to consult lost info about their previous achievements. Record-keeping and digging into historical events would also be potentially much easier if one could pry into the family history of players long gone.
Possible Downsides or Exploits: I can't think of any reason viewing family histories of deleted accounts could possibly be bad.

I don't think deleted families were saved, are they?

Vita, I think it was, told me they were, on IRC, when I rejoined.

Deleted families are not saved. But family history is preserved.

I have no objections to this. I would rate this as easy to conceptualize, moderate effort required, and low priority importance.

This sounds interesting. It could be fun too see some of the most famous now defunct famiilies.

Ah! I hope this goes into effect! I would LOVE to be able to go back and look at what my original account did back in the day!

Say what you want about the issue though, BattleMaster has sure taught me a lesson about rage quitting things haha. Never again!

Well, this is one of the things that would get lost if we don't act on it.

As Vita said, I too am not against this.

Unless Delvin or anyone else has any real concerns about it, I will already add it to the bugtracker so this does not get lost on here.

We do need to conceptualize it however.

Where to add it, who gets to view it, how the view should look like.. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

I feel like the VAST majority of them would go unobserved. Maybe it could be request driven? No sense converting thousands of family histories if only a small fraction will ever be looked at. Would that be possible? Maybe in Information under Global, a request button, and you submit the family name you are looking for?

As for how it should look, I think probably the same as current family histories are laid out. It is familiar already.

How are they stored currently?

Would it be feasible to archive them on the Wiki? -  it already accesses. Some info from realm data for example.

Anaris

I don't believe it's at all a matter of converting: the data are all there, we just need to write a script to allow people to read them.

So then would Chamberlain's suggestion about putting it in the Wiki be possible? I have literally zero understanding of coding and such, so I am in the dark as to what kind of undertaking this would be.

That would be vastly more complex and time-consuming than what we are proposing.

All we need to do is write a page within the game that you can go to and see the list of all the archived families and their historiesâ€"similar to your own user-details page, but with an extra step that lets you pick which family to look at.
