Question about Skill and New Fame

I have a character who, under the New Fame tab, has 38 Sword Fighting. Now, my understanding is that is my percentage relative to whoever has the highest of that skill on the continent, correct?

But at the Academy, his SF skill is 50%. So does this mean someone on the continent has a 135% SF skill? The numbers don't seem to add up for me.
Admit nothing, deny everything, make counter-accusations.

It's a weighted average, not a straight percent of the max.

So if 80% of the continent has skill higher than his, he's going to have a number lower than 50, even if his skill is above 50%.

Ah, so it isn't just based off who has the highest skill, it is more about how many people have skill higher than that character?

So it is more of a percentile?

Yes, I think it's a percentile, or something that kinda works like one.
