Title: Daimon Cleanup
Post by: Indirik on July 28, 2012, 08:13:24 PM
Wow, that battle in Gethsemene was amazing. The cavalry charge in Round 5 was incredible. Took down 100 daimons in one shot, which was 2/3rds of the remaining melee daimons. My infantry lasted long enough to get one shot at the ranged daimons in the back in round 10 before getting slaughtered. Then we had a 9-round archer duel ending in a tie battle. I sure didn't expect things to go that well.

Total:
3 attackers (664 other)
27 defenders (576 Inf, 58 MI, 295 Arch, 483 Cav, 41 SF)
Total combat strengths: 24724 vs. 17874
The region owner Sint and their allies defend.
The Netherworld troops attack because they are at war with Old Grehk.

Strong winds and gusts are making ranged combat a game of luck.
The defenders take up positions inside the Fortress (5).

I found the funniest thing was that we were winning the archery duel.

Good fortifications do that for you.

Would have gone even better for us if the archers were in skirmish formation.

funny thing about daimon cleanup... they start friendly TOs if you leave them around. all the time looting and eating the peasants... weird, isn't it.

That's a bug in the report. They do hostile TOs.

Tsk tsk. Fools. You cannot possibly fathom the awesomeness of MI units.

Jokes aside, they still suck :o

I guess it's a matter of preference. I believe MI are like archers, but better.

I have MI that do more damage than many archer units.

Using my first MI unit atm, and I can concur :)

.. is that only because they shoot out of range?

My archers were good in melee combat, perhaps that was due to my char being a hero and having high swordfighting skill.

No, that was just one person. Your personal skills do not add to your unit, except for leadership.
