The entire game is dependant on the cooperation of the players. If the players want to sabotage the game, there are plenty of ways they can do that.

Oh, so disagreeing with you is sabotaging the game now? You're a real shining example of a community leader, you know that? Honestly, I couldn't have more respect for you as a human being right now.

You're saying that you're not willing to slightly adjust your RP for the sake of a better, healthier game? That maintaining your two-character-on-an-island RP is more important than helping make the game better, and more active/dynamic, for everyone?

No, we're saying we aren't willing to adjust our play style for your conception of what a better, healthier game could be. This isn't going to make the game more active, because you aren't adding anything to any of the islands, you're taking away. At best, you're hoping that we all agree with you. Your plan is wholly dependant upon our cooperation to have any chance of success. And if we do cooperate, there's a chance it might help make the game better from your perspective. I, for one, am not going to play along.

I've tried the other islands several times throughout my decade of playing, and they've always been !@#$. I have no intention of playing on them again. I also won't be renewing my donations going forward either. I disagree with this decision, and I don't feel Tom deserves my financial support until and unless this is revoked. Call it throwing a tantrum if you like, I don't care. I've told Tom before on the mailing list that ideas he had were stupid, and I'll say it here too. Whoever thought of this is an idiot.

No, this was shut down. We all decided to move to other games such as GW2, so the server was discontinued. I don't think any of us intend on returning to Minecraft, at least for the foreseeable future.

I would ask that it be moved to the appropriate forum. I no longer wish for any action to be taken against Collingwood.

Bastard-born children were fairly common.

But they aren't nobles. And within the scope of this game, it doesn't matter if, in real life, bastards sometimes inherited. Within the scope of SMA, it's generally accepted that the idea of base-born ascending to nobility is ridiculous. If you dispute this, I encourage you to ask, IC, in any realm in Dwilight if a commoner can become a noble.

I digress. This isn't directly related to the topic.

Perhaps it could have been tortured out of him, had they been related.

However, I have intended to role-play that character as wholly unrelated to anyone else, once he got good enough at being an advy to warrant approaching nobles for trades. Since I can't make another account, but I still want to experience the commoner game-play, I have no choice but for him to show up as a member of my family. I also couldn't choose the realm he was spawned in, and I happened to roll Terran.

I've received your apology in the game, and I accept it. However, I think this is still something that needs to be discussed, as anyone who, like me, spawns a character by random in the territory of an enemy of their nobles characters could face this same situation. Is this something that needs to be prevented? Can we place a warning somewhere, or allow people to hide their advies?

Bump!

Just a note to say that the server has been whitelisted for a few weeks now. We still have an active community of (mostly) mature players, but are always looking for more. To apply for the whitelist, head over to the website.

Right. Turns out, a medieval fantasy role-play server was simply too niche to become very popular. I shut it down, and opened a vanilla SMP server that's been very active. We typically have anywhere between eight and twenty-five players on, so if you want to drop by, I would welcome you to do so.

Development / Re: New Editor
« on: January 14, 2012, 04:58:04 AM »
As for alternatives to this... thing, I'm working on a Greasemonkey script to destroy instances of the editor after they load. It should work fine in both Firefox and Chrome.

It is unfortunate that the choice to disable the editor has been taken from us. I'm perfectly fine with formatting my messages with HTML code tags myself, I don't need a WYSIWYG editor to do it for me. I'm certainly not ecstatic about having to run my own Javascript on the game to cleanse it because the only other alternative is to turn off Javascript for the entire site.

I think the theme is fine. Unless you mean after you login and are at your family page. Then yeah, you need a theme (specifically because there is none).

No, I meant the color scheme.

Anyone feeling generous with advice and opinion?

You need a new theme, brah.

I like the idea you have here. Assuming you ever get the game to a playable state, let me know. I might be willing to do some design work, pro bono.

That's odd. The server is definitely up in the morning, because I've played on it myself at that time. Most everyone is on in the evenings, however. I haven't ever seen a single person on before noon Central time.

There was. Obviously, having blocked it, I never noticed it went away. It used to be right there, below the login box. It was a 728x90 leaderboard.

The Forums WERE advertised on the login screen when they went live, and have a nice big button at the top of every game screen.

I always had that DIV blocked because of the annoying Firefox ad... That didn't go away even if you had Firefox.
