Not to mention a former Judge of Westmoor was a torturer.  ((we've got our IG reasons covered))
I've seen you people claim this, yet you never seem to be able to give a name.  Funny how that works.

And it seems the banker also made both his characters in the realm priests so he could quickly flee the realm with minimal risk of interception.  Heh.

General Talk / Re: What Browser Do You Use?
« on: April 30, 2011, 09:53:41 PM »
Used to be a big time FF user, but jumped ship to Chrome as soon as it came out. For me it's less bloated than FF has become.

This basically echoes my sentiments as well.  I used to love Firefox, but as time went on, it got slower and slower.  Then there was the literal slowdown if you kept it open for longer than IT wanted.

Google Chrome?  I've never had similar problems with it.

Now, don't get me wrong.  I tend to use Thunderbird for e-mail now and I have the latest FF and IE installed...  Just so very rarely use them.

I love the Mount&Blade series in general.  I truly wish I knew how to mess with the maps...  Would love to make a few BattleMaster themed maps...

Could you imagine playing in Beluaterra, EC, Dwilight, etc?  Or even in muliplayer, having BM realm-based factions to play with? *drool*

Development / Re: Religion is missing something?
« on: April 28, 2011, 06:09:24 AM »
I confess, I'm a tad biased in my desire to see religion strengthened, but there are two things I would love to see:

1)  Giving religions (or rather, the elder priests of said religion) the option to excommunicate a lord.  This would make the followers of the lord's faith in that region more likely to revolt against them/increase unrest.

2)  Encourage joining a religion by essentially making it so Lords would have to join at least SOME religion to maintain control.  Pretty sure most peasants would rather have a lord of a heathen/opposing faith than an atheist in charge.  In this period of time, atheism would be simply unheard of.  And yes, I've seen people claim to be atheists in game before.  Just strikes me as odd for the proposed time period.

BM General Discussion / Re: Perdan's Capital Change
« on: April 26, 2011, 01:57:02 PM »
It's easy to claim that, but that's all it is:  A baseless claim.  Your opinion.

And the current rulers of Westmoor, HAVE tried demanding territory from Perdan.  Nothing like desiring a three front war.

So while they're actively fighting Ibladesh, they know Westmoor may eventually try something stupid.

Artemesia, you're failing to factor in a question:  How did the banker get all the gold to begin with?  It has to come from somewhere, be it wealth taxes, nobles turning it over before they leave on a campaign, etc.

And yes, there could be the "action banker" scenario.  But when bankers are frequently targeted by assassins or enemy patrols (their gold possibly being taken when thrown into an enemy dungeon), how willing will these far flung armies be to see that wealth suddenly vanish?

It simply gives us all another tactical option.  Sure, it can extend a campaign, but it won't make it indefinite.

If this was added though, I'd suggest giving infiltrators an option to rob bankers, similar to the current assassination mechanic.  Perhaps give the Banker an option for how heavily he'd resist, much like the current dueling options, and if he fights and loses, he may not only be injured, but lose X amount of gold.

There are many scenarios I can imagine if this happens, mind you.  Could you see a banker waiting in an allied city for the army to report in for a quick gold trade, only to be stabbed and robbed by an unknown assailant?  What if it happens repeatedly?  How long would that nation remain an ally before suspicions tear the alliance apart?

Could make it so only the Banker could do it, Tom.  Gives them something to actually do with money, limits who can do it, gives enemies a known target for warfare, etc.

What you COULD possibly do to limit unbalancing issues is give nobles the option to trade their bonds with the Banker (who would be the kingdom's official issuer of such things anyway) for gold.  However, the Banker would need to have that gold in his own inventory at the time.  Nobles give the Banker their bonds, the Banker gives the nobles his own gold as payment, much like the bank element as-is.

Gives infiltrators a target to assassinate/disable to hinder enemy campaigns as well as realm functions and gives enemy troops a target to arrest so as to take his stores of gold.

The Church of Humanity has been actively preaching region by region to try to remove Flow influence from Westmoor's territories.  It's not easy.  They're quite violent.

Beluaterra / Re: What did we lose? What did we gain? 4th Inv aftermath
« on: April 17, 2011, 09:08:45 AM »
I find it annoying that you are boasting about how much more manipulative and smarter the NPC's were than the players, when this is exactly what people aren't looking for in something that is to be played like a friendly board game.

Assuming that you and the NPC's tricked all of us, when some of us might have been trying to play our characters based on IC information instead, is rather haughty of you.
You also have to take into account that Chénier fails the first rule of manipulation.  He believes his own propaganda. ;P

BM General Discussion / Re: Titan System Revalation
« on: April 17, 2011, 08:17:15 AM »
The main issue I see with public postings of submitted issues and the lack of anonymity of those who report the issues is that there will then be a witch hunt.

Say Gustav there (sorry Gustav, just your name was above mine :P ) was under a Marshal or General who started to order him when to log in, what types of units to recruit, and what class/subclass he is to be for their war effort.  Gustav files a complaint, the Titans realize that it's not kosher with the rules.  They smack the General/Marshal.

Now, let's say his name is published.  The Judge is good friends with the General/Marshal and decides to persecute him.  Oh, he won't say it's because of the complaint, but that will be the root cause.  And judges don't *need* reasons to punish, right?  But Gustav wouldn't have been targeted if his name wasn't put out there.  He gets fined.  He gets banned.  He gets a bounty placed on his head.

All because he lacked the protections currently given.

While it's all well and good to wish that such things would never happen, there are vindictive people out there and unless they mention their reasons in the game...  There's no way for the Titans or staff to know what's truly going on.  And if such persecution starts to happen, it's only a matter of time before people are afraid to report such violations of BattleMaster's most sacred tenants.

While I understand where you're coming from with this Tom, I can't say I entirely agree.  I mean, in a perfect world, such a system would be fantastic.  However, democracy or mob rule simply cannot work in a structured environment.

If it's based on consensus, what's to stop someone from getting friends to swarm a complaint thread and drown out rational thought?  And if the Titan goes against the consensus because it's blatantly wrong/biased, you're back to square one.

What? They have 100/100 SF? really?
Artemesia said "for all we know".  So no, they probably don't have one, but OI tends to be very silent.

I think the main thing that made people think there were friendships possible were the books in The Dream, Tom.  Honestly, I wish there was some more Beluaterra lore/history leaked in it.  I think that's one of the things that make people look forward to the next game the most.
