Feature Requests / Re: More Election Options
« on: November 07, 2014, 02:04:11 AM »
Indeed, but it should be mechanically possible, if the OP is looking for alternating months.  Whether it's esthetically pleasing to see the routine posts about government changes or if it would be deemed as allowable from a titan or GM standpoints aside, I'm just pointing out that it can be done with player guided actions.  If they are driven to do it but the code is not there, nor is it forbidden, then they do have options.

Staggering different months for each position is already possible, theoretically, in a roundabout way.  "Simply" change the position to elect each month when you want it to have an election that month, and leave it as appointment or elect once when it's not desired to vote for it.

It's a bummer.  Has it ever been considered to allow it with an additional name to allow passage, or is it a troublesome process?  For example, adding an adjective, middle name, or place of origin so that though Marcus couldn't go, Marcus the Meek, Marcus Benedict, or Marcus of Keffa could.

I have no really coding experience, but if the information was presented to me I could do at least a weekly digest of events.  For this, it almost seems to me either a player driven wiki or google doc would be most appropriate.

Helpline / Re: City's max population seems very low?
« on: July 22, 2014, 05:23:38 AM »
I think it would be easier to express a long-term stable and happy population with a small,  short-lived production boost beyond 100%, similar to investments.   However,  no more than 5-10% total.  It could be at once, or an accumulative 1% a day until they experience a negative region buff.  Considering that it could be quite difficult to avoid negative buffs, it would keep things from getting unbalanced.

We have days until starvation listed, but with the new rations can we add days until 1/4 ration?

Would make sense, but morseo with the logic of prevention of protection from loot.

It does, but not as bad as letting your deal ride through the term posted.  IIRC, it back dates to the day of posting with normal rate of rot, and then applies the accumulative rot at once.  In other words, if unsold, you'll see the same amount of rot as if not on the market; though, I'm notnsurebif you save anything to roundings this way (not sure if it uses decimals at all for values).

Helpline / Re: A little doubt about lordship

Indeed.  On BT I had a character accidentally click into a different duchy of the same realm, and then back on the same day.  I think he had just switched to the intended duchy a day or two before, upon its creation.

Unless things have changed dramatically over the years, and with factors such as looting and starvation aside, morale would usually gravitate towards your loyalty.  The way I always worked was get control to core quickly, and then focus on loyalty.  Even courts for loyalt, as it won't impact control.  It used to also be true that you had slim chances of successful court if loyalty was below 20%.

Feature Requests / Re: Tournament of the Titans
« on: June 27, 2014, 06:50:50 AM »
I'm pretty sure the game is not designed for intercontinental tournaments.  Logic of code aside, you have multiple versions of a name that way( e.g. This Guy, of Colonies and This Guy, of Atmara), which would suggest separate databases.  Next, you have the fact that all islands do not run the same code.  Lastly.... why?  With as much time as volunteer coders spend on bigs, code updates, and new features.  It just seems like kind of a lame project with way less payoff for the work.

As far as game generated tournaments for one island goes, it still just seems like a waste.  Unless I'm mistaken, dukes were given the ability to hold tournaments a while in the past.  Petition your realms to hold a tourny, and if the won't, find a way to empower someone who will.

In most cases I've encountered there's only been one duchy adjacent to the region, so it joins it.  I would think that if multiple duchies bordered, it would go to whichever duchy had the closest bordering region in terms of miles.

Any chance of this all happening one day?

Development / Re: Improved World News ?
« on: June 11, 2014, 02:58:47 AM »
I'd go further with updates to world news.  Some times we lose players to slow boughts in the game, or player time to sort through it all if they are inactive for a while.

It would do much better to turn it into a more comprehensive report, even if updated monthly to avoid spoilers.  Then, auto-email a link of the ticker generated news to accounts inactive for more than a few weeks every month.  Either keep our players filled in during longer planned leaves, rekindle interest in those that stepped away, or even just get everybody the option to subscribe for !@#$s and giggles.  I think it would help with retention at least.

That's how it seems, which is kind of disappointing.  It would be an awesome system if the regions had proportionately better economies to strive for.  This, however, just seems like it's going to push some into doing extra busy work to squeeze the last few coins out of their region or get penalized.

I guess to sum it up, there's not a single attractive idea to this change; no incentives shown to improve the game.
