I cannot remember for sure what the status of this is or if it was changed at some point recently.
So, for a long time as long as I can remember, neither priests nor Infils could be government members. Does this still hold true, and if so, why?
-
As a priest I've been ruler in a monarchy. A priest has been judge in the same monarchy. I think the only one they're typically excluded from is General.

I was a priest and General, hell I was also a Marshal, though since you don't take part in battle I don't think you can use marshal settings :)

This changed when referendums replaced the old voting system.
I think infils are still excluded from some appointments, but I'd imagine they can also get elected to things. Perhaps you can't become an infil when in government, though.

Priests as generals: awesome
Priests as marshals: still awesome, so long as you have an active VM. As long as they're present at the battle, formations work.

I was wondering as to the change because I had heard discussions about it.
Does anyone have any conclusive idea as to infiltrators in government? (Since it seems Priests can be?)

My own infiltrator is only eligible for becoming a local lord or/and marshal.
-
Priests are eligible for all positions, including marshal.

It makes no since to have a priest as a marshal. I mean Priest can control a army but to control the army on the field does not make any since.

You would need a damn good vice marshal :) I did this for a very short time in Solaria, until we were able to find someone to take up being marshal. Made for some great RP's of me blessing the army before battle etc, but from purely game mechanic perspectives, my character added little to the army, no unit and not able to lead the combat.

Can priests now be part of an army? Last I bothered to check, they couldn't.

I could be in the army, but I'm pretty sure I would take no part in the battles (never actually tested this though) and thus be unable to arrange the army in formation. We had a active vice marshal who was able to make all the battles, he just didn't want the responsibilities of Marshal at the time.

Seems you can now with the new system. I just tried it out.

Priests can be in armies. I used to have mine in an army that administrates region maintenance and courtier work mostly to listen in where he was needed to influence the population.
