Post by: Azerax on October 06, 2012, 03:36:52 AM
I'm not sure if people stray into the other forums so I'm posting in all the islands.

Please post interesting items (spice them up) to go onto the Battlemaster Facebook page.

Cheers,

Actually there is a diplomatic summit being done at Stargard with rulers and ambassadors of Suville, Carelia, Caergoth, Strombran, Tara, and Cagilian Empire so it is going to be quite the event. I will write up a better sounding and more informed version hopefully tonight.

Is Coria really not invited? I just assumed you guys thought/knew we were too busy.

EDIT: On topic, wait a day or so and we might have a story of a fight between MI, BoM and ML.

You were basically considered irrelevant as it a summit for the the southern realms, CE only got in because they asked.

And yet we were the first to sign peace with Suville, despite CE's peace treaty being drafted first. It's cool, though, we really are too busy... And the CE should cover our angle anyway.

On-topic:

The Barony of Makar rallied probably its strongest force in... I dunno, a year?

We then attacked Leohampton with the promised support of Minas Ithil (who actually issued their orders first. Knowing them, Maduin never expects a cooperative move from them unless they send orders first.) and saw not a scrap of Ithilian banner join us. I would've even taken a single blue thread from their flag caught on my helmet as them joining us... but nope.

We did do more damage than I expected, though. Also, with a little under half the men of Minas Leon, we had almost as much CS. I calculated it out: Per man, the Barony had about 12.5 CS. Leohampton (Tara + Minas Leon) had 9.9 CS per man. Not that these numbers mean much... I'm just proud of our troop quality.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm stupid and don't read orders properly...

The upshot is that the Barony got it wrong, and attacked too soon. They thought they were going to get help from MI, but didn't, so they get their asses kicked. If they had gotten the timing right, and attacked together, they may have won.

It's still a major event, I just thought proper credit should be given for the mistake.

Lemme rewrite this for the FB page:

The Barony of Makar rallied its strongest army in almost a year to be joined by Minas Ithil's forces in an attack on Leohampton, the capital of Minas Leon - traitors to Minas Ithil. Unfortunately, Minas Ithil's forces take longer to move and the smell of blood was too much for the Vikings of the Barony. While Minas Ithil was still making preparations, the Vikings attacked. Despite the odds, the Barony performed much better than expected, with survivors of the battle holding pieces of the walls in their teeth.  Minas Leon was left scratching their heads while the Viking Horde retreated.

That sound better? Of course, edit it as you see fit. I'm probably too one-sided. :)

Cagil News Agency Dispatch:

In a stunning display of disorganization and stupidity, forces of the Barony of Makar attacked the fortified city of Leohampton without the assistance of their Ithilian allies. Insider sources confirm that the Barony leadership misread communications and ordered the attack too early. Recriminations and childish whining were soon flying back and forth between Ithilian and Makarian nobles. The Makarian "horde" were last seen in full rout, retreating in disarray with their tails between their legs.

Further displays of military "prowess" from the northern realms were on display in Alaise, were King Kerwin of Eston led his knights in pursuit of retreating Cagilan troops into Cagilan territory... right into Cagilan relief forces holding the local palisades. Over a third of the hapless Estonites were cut down in the first archer volley. The rest were quickly mopped up by by Cagilan forces, who charged out of the palisades before the cowardly Estonites could retreat.

With such brilliant minds leading the northern realms, it is no wonder that the war has been a strategic disaster for the northern alliance.

Since nobody else is writing it:

The combined forces of Eston, Darka and the Barony of Makar broke through Talerium's lines in Cantril, granting the Barony access to the Caglian Empire for a looting raid. Caglian troops in Nazia were unable to respond, having to cross the mountains to chase the enemy. What impact this has on the war, if any, remains to be seen. Cantril, currently being taken over by Eston, been in contention for more than a year.

Cantril isn't accepted... just that Talerium knows that every single new noble in Darka is going to manage to drift over into that region inevitably out of ignorance and just overlook it.

Arturius Entreri, Duke of Barad Riel, Margrave of Barad Riel has seceded from your realm and declared his duchy as an independent realm in its own right. All regions, knights and troops of the duchy have therefore left your realm and become a part of Rieleston.

Cagil News Agency Dispatch:

With Estonite assistance, Makarian troops breached Talerium defenses at Cantril and rampaged in interior Cagilan regions. However the undisciplined Makarian raiders were quickly encircled and annihilated by Cagilan forces before they could do much damage. Several Makarian nobles were reportedly captured and held for ransom. Had they remained at Nazamroth, the outcome of the subsequent battles might have been different.

It was at this time that Taran, Talerium, and Cagilan forces launched a major counter-offensive from Cantril to Nazamroth. Entrenched knights and soldiers from Eston and Darka were initially successful in driving them off, however the defenders took heavy casualties, and were themselves routed from the field when more reinforcements arrived from Cantril to press the assault. Three nobles from CE and Tara were captured, including the General of the Cagilan Empire. Twelve nobles from Eston and Darka were captured, including the Banker of Eston. Many nobles were wounded to various degrees on both sides.

This implies the Barony ever pays ransom. It also ignores the fact that a good number of them have escaped already. (Third stone from the left, mate.)

Why would we let the Makarians go without a ransom? You see, what happens is, after about a week, their families get really desperate, and send us furs, seashells, yak cheese, nubile servant girls... We generally let them go out of pity at that point... the Vikings, not the girls.

We like having Viking prisoners around. Their ransom might not be worth much (nobody likes yak cheese around here), but we found that Darkan and Estonite nobles pay their ransoms much faster when they have a Viking for a neighbor in the cells. I bet it's the smell.  ;D

We didn't even ask for the girls in the first place. We just said "pay the ransom with horses if you don't have gold" and they sent us servant girls.

I think it has something to do with their strange cavalry. I try not to think about it too much.

In the form of a news release:

Word from Coria indicates an upcoming power redistribution as High Magistrate Wind Blue Star and General Merlin Silverfire have both indicated their intent to leave their current positions. Both Wind and Merlin have been in their positions for several election cycles (the position of General is not elected, however). The resulting changes may cause a significant change in Coria's governance although Wind has chosen to run for General.

Candidates include Ambassador Asleon Quintus Ennius for High Magistrate and Kressara Fleisher and Wind Blue Star for General.

Historically, Coria's Generals have gone on to become Consul when it frees up. Duke Merlin's current stint still follows this trend due to his previous times as both General and Consul. Despite this, Coria has occasionally elected a Consul that has not also held the General position.

In the key region of Nazamroth, chokepoint of the battle lines between the Cagilan Empire and the Northern Alliance, the two foes met in a titanic clash. The resulting battle is being hailed as the second largest battle ever seen. (Second only to the great Battle of Meldeen, which occurred nearly seven years ago.) 79 nobles of Darka, Eston, and the Barony of Makar lead their forces on the field against the 61 entrenched nobles of the Cagilan Empire and Talerium (and two wayward Taran nobles that probably got lost...). Over 4,000 attacking soldiers (47,326 CS) swarmed over the 3,700 defending soldiers (38,731 CS).

Six nobles were captured, and 32 wounded. In the end, the Empire and their allies retreated from the field, unable to hold back the northerners.

I will have news soon. The summit for peace between Carelia and Suville which included the realms of Caergoth, Carelia, Suville, Tara, Strombran and Cagilian Empire is coming to a close soon, in peace or war, and war is what the current situation points to as both sides are sticking to their current, opposing views on Caergoth's claims to Riverholm. The main factor that may be able to change that is that an ambassador of Coria is coming south to join in the negotiations, being rather non-biased, as they hope for peace and a bias will not help peace happen.

With a little more flavor:

VIKINGS RUN RAMPANT IN THE CAGLIAN EMPIRE'S MOUNTAIN REGIONS! Peasantry are encouraged to stay inside lest they be killed or raped. If you encounter a Viking and have nowhere to run, surrender any alcohol or horses and promptly run in the other direction. The government is determining the best way to combat the situation. Mysteriously, most peasants with long beards are surviving encounters with very little incident. The local bureaucrats are testing fake beards as a way to save lives. More to come when results are in.

Cagil News Agency Dispatch:

Locals report that a large group of bandits were killed and/or captured by Cagilan troops in the region of Alaise. In a press conference, General Enri Kinsey reminded the citizens and peasantry that banditry is a crime punishable by death by hanging. Furthermore, bandit leaders are subject to the gruesome TRIAL OF KNIVES. Despite these harsh measures, however, banditry remains a problem in some Cagilan frontier regions, as depressed economies in the war zones drive many to crimes of desperation. When pressed on this by reporters, General Enri kindly reminded everyone of the many charities within our cities that are set up for the sole purpose of aiding refugees, vagrants, and other temporarily displaced peasantry. "Get thee behind city walls," he was quoted as saying.

In unrelated news, some Makarian nobles were found touring the mountain regions, with only a few troops as bodyguards. They were quickly and efficiently captured by local militia forces, and will be held for ransom. It seems that the dim-witted Makarians completely forgot about the war, and journeyed into the mountains to pick flowers and visit the local petting zoos. One Makarian prisoner proudly displayed his painting of a scenic mountain vista in his cell.

Ithillian forces are backed against a wall, and in the face of a Leon backed by foreign gold and foreign nobles intended to bypass the peace agreement with Coria, will soon break against their superior foe. Abandoned by their allies after a pair of Makarian military errors, soon the Barony's southern border will be exposed to the hostile forces of their enemies. With Makarian forces facing an eventual forces withdrawal from the Western Front, can the Northern Alliance hold? Should it after abandoning its own?

On a completely OOC level, I'm confused, what foreign nobles are you talking about? Minas Leon has had a bunch of ex-Ithilians join that have been banned by Raziel, but when we looked into it, we found no Tarans (as originally claimed by King Sidd) had joined Minas Leon. Are there really foreign nobles joining Minas Leon to bypass the treaty or not?

I wouldn't doubt the gold, though. That's almost a given.

That's because you've got Ithilian nobles defecting to Minas Leon... because Raziel banned them. I almost think that Raziel is purposely sabotaging his own realm.  :o

I'm saying new nobles starting their careers in Leon. Raziel has banned several nobles for High Treason, Minas Ithil didn't lose much with them.

After several months of peace talks the treacherous Suville has finally signed a cease fire. As long as Suville does not attack Carelia, peace will officially be signed in 6 months.

Well, you notice nobody's trying to go up there anymore, either.  :P

It's only been four months (three of which my allies still wanted to eat Minas Ithil) anyway, but it's still a long time.

Gold came only because we got hit by a bug which didnt give taxes in our capitol. Just to get over that. And its a loan so it must be paid back. And no foreign nobles. Some new, but not much.

The Central Alliance kept pushing on their victory and shortly after Anost fell to the imperial forces Meneriel was taken. The Cagilan Empire, along with her allies has maintained a force of over 30k the entire time even though most of their allies were refitting. Eston may only hope their Darkan allies will soon return as it seems unlikely for the Estonites to push back their enemy from the doorstep of Eston's capital city. How long, before that too is lost?

Sir Bezumo Kuriga, a young noble of Talerium, was travelling in Anost to meet up with the main army when he was ambushed by a force of 53 infantry and 72 cavalry. Bravely leading a unit of 26 archers against all odds, he managed to inflict equal casualties on the superior force before his unit was killed to a man. Finding himself alone, the young noble caught sight of a nobleman on a horse wielding an emerald studded warhammer. Using skills learned from being in the desert, he jumped onto the horse behind the Darkan noble, holding a knife across his throat while directing him from the battlefield towards Talerium. Thus did Sir Bezumo capture Schaeffer Blackwood, a knight of Darka, despite having lost all his men.

The actual events that I rp'ed:

He hadn't expected enemy troops to be here yet. This was behind the front lines wasn't it? It didn't matter now, enemy forces had found him and his men alone on the road, outnumbering him at least five to one. Sir Bezumo observed his small unit of archers, then looked ahead of them, where the banners of Eston and Darka waved in the slight breeze, the lack of a heavy wind his only advantage. Raising his arm, he signaled for his men to ready their bows. Though some showed fear in their eyes, they held and nocked their arrows, the bows at full draw. As Bezumo slashed his hand down, the arrows flew from the bows, crossing the sky before arching downwards into the force making its way toward him.

At first he wanted to cheer as the first arrows found their mark, but only a few men fell. The enemy, knowing they were in range of his bows, began to move double time, advancing quickly upon his position. The bowmen didn't need to be given orders, unleashing a second volley, which in their haste was ill-aimed, only felling five men. Looking at the warriors charging him, the horseman close behind the infantry, Bezumo prayed to Karibash softly, as his archers loosed a last volley. There was an instant of silence, before the Darkan infantry let loose a war cry as they charged, the two ranks of soldiers clashing. The young noble could see it was to be a slaughter, his men being dispatched left and right. Slashing his sabre through several men, he spotted a noble of Darka, who wielded a huge warhammer that was embedded with emeralds, using it to good effect against what few of his archers remained from atop his horse. Slicing through the strap holding the saddle, he watched as the man fell from his horse, being knocked out as he hit his head on the ground. Grunting as he draped the man over the horse, barely managing to keep it steady, he then hopped on, sans the saddle, kicking his heel just enough into the horse's side so that it galloped from the battlefield, leaving it behind as the last of his men fell to the ground dead.

Smiling weakly, he tied the noble to a horse and stopped by a nearby farmhouse, paying the commoner inside several silver. He warned, however, that were anything to happen to the noble between here and the capital of Talerium, Bezumo would come back with troops and burn down the place and salt the fields to balance any harm done. With that he walked off, hiring a horse as well from the farm to ride back to the capital, in order to recruit a new unit.

Report from Kerwin Perth   (5 hours, 59 minutes ago)
Message sent to the Rulers of Atamara (13 recipients)
Rulers of Atamara,

It is with a heavy heart that I am formally announcing Eston's Unconditional Surrender to the Cagilan Empire. They have beaten us, and my Kingdom's ability to fight has been broken.

It has been an honor to fight alongside our allies in the North, and I hope you may be spared from the destruction that Eston has suffered.

To the Cagilan Empire, while we do not see eye to eye, you have been nothing but honorable in your combat and your rule over Atamara is nothing but well earned.

I shall order all Eston forces to stand down. I ask that all hostility toward my Nobles, our Lands, and our people cease. We await the discussion of final terms.

For the North,
For the Star and Spears,
His Majesty,

Kerwin Perth
King of Eston

Atamara:

Minas Leon has finally broken the walls of York and defeated Minas Ithil.  Sidd Kingsley, King of Minas Ithil was killed in the final defense of his realm.  With no ruler, and the capital under Leonian occupation, Minas Ithil seems to be in her final hours.

King Raoul of Minas Leon has offered sanctuary to any Ithilian noble who wishes to join him, with the exception of traitors to Minas Leon during the civil war.  In a speech today he mourned the loss of King Sidd and the inevitable end of his former realm.

If our marshal or general would wake up, we might just survive. The battles are having a great toll on the invaders, and they've yet to begin a takeover.

Minas Ithil's destruction is not yet assured.

Funny thing, though: we had no idea we were being invaded. Yay for not scouting around us!

Letter sent to the nobles of the Cagilan Empire from a newly arrived red robed priestess:

Hail mighty Cagili!

I am Selene of House Octavius, Missionary and Servant of Lord Sartan, God of War. I am come to bring His Holy Flame and His Holy Code unto Atamara.

The Cagilan Empire is mighty and has grown strong by the glorious victories of your famed and honourable warriors. This is why I have come to you.

For, in many ways, your own traits echo the traits that the Code of Sartan, written by Sartan Himself, instructs all to live by.

For followers of Sartan, honour, above all, is key. For without honour or principles a man is worthless. A man reveals himself in how he treats his enemies as well as his friends. Indeed, Sartan may be the God of War but any who debase themselves through rapine or base murder are not warriors in His eyes but no more than vermin to be put down.

But if you allow honour to guide you then anyone, no matter how low or high, can prove themselves worthy to Sartan.

Sartan is the bright flame guiding men along the path of honour and righteousness. His Code teaches men what it is to be honourable and His blessings bring honourable warriors victory in battle.

Think how glorious your empire is now Cagili and then imagine how much greater its glory shall be when you cast aside the false gods and embrace the only true god for a race of nobles as great and as strong as yourself - Sartan, the God of War.

Embrace Sartan and he will bring you strength and glory until the breaking of the world itself. And all who fight and die in His name will know the greatest glory of all - the glory of the eternal blessings of Sartan in both this world and the next.

If you are ready to accept the holy flame of Sartan into your hearts then come to me and I will be your guide on following Sartan's teachings and His path. Come to me and let your souls be redeemed by the sacred honour and glory of the true gods and the one true Church of Sartan.

May Sartan bless the Cagili and the Cagilan Empire,
Selene

Less than one day after her arrival in the Cagilan Empire, the priestess Selene, missionary of the Far Eastern god Sartan, has been ordered to leave by the Prime Minister upon pain of banishment and execution for crimes which are alleged to include "mocking sacred religions" and "threatening" the established religions in the Cagilan Empire.

What now for the red robed priestess? Why does the judge of the Cagilan Empire seem unaware that she is meant to be banishing Selene? And just how long will it be before Selene is banished from another realm? All these questions, and more, will be answered in the next turn of Battlemaster!

No religious rights in extreme cases can be revoked still. Preaching is also at the mercy of the region lord though.
Title: Re: Post News Here for our Facebook Page

I think it has only ever been revoked (if ever allowed) for MS. Otherwise, preaching and temples are entirely subject to a region lord's wishes, but you are free to practice any religion. Ravendon's still a member of the Horgr of Makar. I think there's still a temple in Anfalas and... Nazia? We don't have priests in Coria often, so I don't think lords are too strict on it. (With the exception of Kressara who is doing crazy things again.)

Toupellon had some ridiculous law like that, too. "You can be of any religion, and build a temple to any religion. But you can't actually start a new religion without permission from the King."

"Uh... what?  If someone next door to me starts a new religion and I join, I can build a temple? But I can't actually build that first temple myself and create the religion?"

"Yep, that's absolutely correct."
Title: Re: Post News Here for our Facebook Page

So if preaching and temples is up to the region lord, what does the council decide.

Coria's council decides whether you can found a religion within Coria. Once approved, and the religion is founded, it is then allowed.

Individual lords can determine whether or not they want preaching in their regions and by which priests.

Lords are prohibited from destroying any temples that are in their region once they are there. However, lords may build any temples they wish in their regions while lord of that region. (With the exception of those that are banned)

MS is the only banned religion in Coria.

Unless the Church of Sartan already exists on Atamara, won't it need to be "founded"? I've never actually checked, but I didn't think religions persisted across continents. That's the part that the Council would have a say over. In addition, I think our law differs in that you need approval to introduce the religion to our lands as well, but I could be wrong. I don't think it's happened in quite some time.

Yeah. The religion would need to be founded on AT. Which is why Selene sent a letter to the senate when she arrived asking a) where there was a vacant estate, b) if any lord would be willing to allow the Church to be founded in their lands and c) if the senate would give permission for it to be founded.

One person did offer to let her do it provided it was a Church of Ibladesh rather than a Church of Sartan alone but she's being kicked out before she has a chance to take up that offer though :(

Next stop Carelia! ;)

If she converts my priest I doubt anyone else will be willing to become priest of Evgenism and it will die, quickly replaced by church of Sartan which I am sure will have support due to the values of the religion quite similar to the values of Carelia, IMO.

SadlyI have only played with his "nice" character.

It's really mostly about which side you are on. My most hated guys are usually rather loved back at home, it's the foreigners who hate them. Context can do a whole lot for how you get to perceive other characters, and how they get to perceive you, and thus how they evolve together.Take the same two characters, and put them in one place and they might be devout allies and if you had placed them in another, ferocious enemies.

Mind you, until recently, Stanislav never really said a word. I never had any plans for him.

And I say "rather loved", because heck, I did splinter the realm with a secession once, and my head is often cited as a pretext for aggression against my realm. Some don't like that too much. :P

Just a few that don't really matter, though. Party poopers, that's all.

Now he's an evil, plotting bastard.

CE is voting to determine legality of Sartan right now. In a week or so you should have your answer, but it seems my character is the only one that cares to grill yours about it. Technically, if CE determines it to be legal, Ecuo is likely to found it. Don't rush to Carelia just yet!

Huh. Well Selene doesn't know that. All she knows is that the Prime Minister keeps ordering her to leave on pain of death and sending her messages demanding to know how long until she's out of the realm. And sadly I can't use OOC info IC :p

That was most definitely the worst attack against a city I've ever seen. Even when Sorraine attacked Ohnar West's capital in the Far East, we at least had most if not all of our units attacking the city at once. That was maybe half the army attacking Minas Ithil.

In other news, Selene, the red robed priest, has arrived in Carelia after being ordered to leave the Cagilan Empire. Already the bounty on her head has increased by 200 gold for a total bounty of 750 gold to whoever next stabs her. Even more profitable might be bets on how long she will be able to stay in Carelia before facing death threats.

Will Selene survive a week without getting stabbed? How much will the bounty on her head increase by? And just how did Carelia manage to move its location entirely since Selene was last on the continent? All these questions, and more, will be answered soon on Battlemaster!

You were attacked!   (just in)
personal message
As you go to bed, you spot a dark figure hiding in the shadows. No sooner have you drawn your sword and readied yourself for combat, as the infiltrator attacks.
The attacker cuts through your defenses, and sinks the blade into your body twice before running away, seriously wounding you.
The guards are unable to prevent the attacker's escape.

BREAKING NEWS: Selene has just been stabbed less than ten minutes after joining Carelia. Surely a new world record?

Seems he might not have been an enemy per say. This was quite an interesting situation, that has given my character something to pursue though it will be quite difficult to find out about. As to who stabbed you, I am rather sure of who it was but that you will have to find out in due time, or more likely, you won't.

Also Darka has a song written by a player and performed by him as well.In fact it is so obvious because names of old Darkans and current ones are included...if we had to choose from songs written all over da planet i would certainly choose Korpiklaani..something like "Happy little boozer" or "Hide your riches" ( if you know what i mean ;) ) or "Rise"....yeah i think it would be Rise.

Out of the silent sea,
Came the holy men of war
Killers in the name of god, with bible,
Cross and book of law
Welcome to the land of ice,
Welcome to the land of snow..
Come in and meet our gods.
This is not your day

Rise from the ground, spirts of the earth,
Spirits of fire, spirits of war,
Flow of waters, rumble of thunder,
Above the heads of our enemies.

Rise now from the ground
Mighty spirits of the earth
Come down god of wind
Mighty spirit of the air

Rise now water of the seas
Drown all our enemies
Rise now god of fire
Burn and give back our land of dreams

For the Facebook Page:

(Roleplay)
His Grace, Duke Merlin Silverfire of Frekpotis marched down the central avenue of Barad Gardor, the capital of Coria. He was surrounded by the 72 most elite troops in the entire realm, his well-trained special forces, who would die to the man before allowing harm to their Duke. Behind the Duke’s bodyguard strode 100 of the city’s militia along with the captains of the city’s militia and palace guards. Behind the capital’s militia strode 500 personal retainers of the Duke each carrying a large bundle. This group was lit only by the flickering fire of hundreds of torches in the pre-dawn twilight.

When Merlin reached the forum of the Corian Ruler’s palace, he stopped and surveyed the palace. He turned briefly to his men, and the captain of the city’s militia and the captain of the palace guards were brought forward to flank the Duke. Striding forward, Merlin moved to the base of the podium in front of the palace and drew his sword. With a single slice, and a sharp crack, he cut down the flagpole of Coria, then moved and picked up the banner of the realm in his hands. Without a word spoken, he took a torch from his closest retainer and set the banner aflame and held the banner aloft.

Merlin turned to the two captains. “Burn them. Burn every banner of Coria within the city. My retainers will accompany you and supply you with the replacements.” The captains turned and looked at each other for a brief moment. What could they do? Merlin was Duke of the city of Barad Gardor, and the highest authority currently in Coria. The only person who could possibly override his order would be Merlin’s vassal the direct Lord of Barad Gardor and he wasn’t in the city. Just as this was undoubtedly passing the minds of the captains, a messenger ran up to the gathering.

“My Lord Silverfire!” the messenger said. “The results of the election are in; you are now officially Ruler of Coria!”

Almost immediately after hearing the news, the two captains voiced their assent and set out with their men to begin. As they turned away, each had three of Merlin’s bodyguard go with them to keep watch. Merlin then announced: “Someone find me a throne,” before he turned his back on the crowd and entered the Palace proper.

Before long, red fires had sprouted up all across the city, and snakes of smoke reached out and shrouded the city in a sort of haze, as the sun breached the horizon. Before the hour was out, hundreds of pigeons had already left the city, carrying the same message to the four corners of Atamara. The details differed, but the central message was the same:

“The Republic of Coria has fallen! The Kingdom of Coria has begun!”

A humorous news article:

Local banner maker Mana Aran of Barad Falas has retired following a sharp increase in production for the new Empire. The commission granted him a small fortune, enough to escape the life of peasantry and live out his days in peace wherever he chooses. On a rather related note, a new fashion has arisen that features the colors of green and gold and makes use of the few Corian banners that were not burned. Finally, crop production is expected to be exceptionally plentiful this season thanks to the banner ash that can now be mixed in with the soil. The extra nutrients will emphasize the flavors of the plants.

In what many are saying is the worst plan that has ever been hatched in the Frozen North, Ender, Executioner of the Barony and Duke of Makar, has announced that he no longer gets along with Sordnaz and wants his own realm. He plans to accomplish this strange goal by halving the Barony to make one. Mick, General of the Barony, has offered to remove Ender's head for fear that he's either gone utterly mad or is entirely too sober to keep on living.

All the duchies I know of are spoken for.

If you can carve one out of BoM, it's all yours. 8)

Think about all the benefits of living in the Frozen North:
+ Free life-time supply of slushies and other icy treats!
+ Skiing! Snowboarding! Yeti wrestling!
+ The Vikings are drunk, pliable, and complacent. There would be no pesky nobles plotting your downfall from within your own realm.

And that's not all!

You get life-time immunity from CE! Seriously. It's too far away and too cold. The last time Enri marched up there half of his laser bears troops froze to death.

The Realm of Heorot was formally formed by secession from the Barony of Makar today. Dread Lord Ender Neill announced the realm's formation by shouting from atop a throne of skulls and empty kegs in his mead hall in Makar as a bunch of frightened peasants gathered below. Joining Heorot in the earliest hours are the regions of the Duchy of Makar who swore to follow Ender in his mad quest to reform the Baronies of old and live as Vikings once more.

Rumors from outside the city walls say that the streets run red and gold with celebratory mead and the severed heads of those who weren't celebrating to the Dread Lord's satisfaction.

In an attempt to reverse Dread Lord Ender Neill's creation of a new realm, former Barony of Makar General Mick the Slasher Mugurk challenged him to a duel. Mick the Slasher was slain and Ender was seriously wounded. Witnesses say the fight was quite the spectacle and enjoyed the copious amounts of blood. One passerby is said to have painted a new sign with the freeflowing blood. When asked, he was uncertain which noble's blood was on the sign, but he plans to claim both for marketing reasons.

You can.

Anything that you read on the forum (or elsewhere) that would or should be public knowledge, there is absolutely no reason not to use IC in whatever way you want.

If you gain OOC knowledge of things that would not, under ordinary circumstances, have been made public, using them IC in any way is ethically questionable, and you should not do it. However, you will not be punished for doing so.

And, as should be obvious, the more important the information, the more important it is to have a legitimate IC channel for obtaining it.

News of the Steppe.

Eston, Lyonnesse, Rieleston and Minas Leon are putting the hands together against the vikings. They fear Heorot will bring back the viking raids and don't want to wait until these Barbarians make the first attack. When Eston declared war as first, the idea was to make raids on the vikings but due pressure it agreed to join into active warfare to destroy Heorot.
There are a lot of tensions between the fresh allies mostly between Eston - Rieleston, Minas Leon. Minas Leon has made its claim on Brackhead and Eston on the duchy of Icegate but regions are still to be devided when they crushed the vikings.
Eston is going to use its share as trade material with Lyonesse or as colony. There are also been thoughts of moving entire Eston if they could get Sale and Makar as well.

One thing is clear Eson has left the falling Alliance of the North but it seems like the Steppe is raising will it be a counterbalance against CE?

sadly an other gangbang attack not my idea but i join it so i'm just as bad i'm afraid :-[ it is really hard to keep your feelings out of the discussions on the rulerchannel  and greed is a real problem. However i hope this new alliance will take care of each other and bring strength to Eston and Lyonesse so they get the power to say no to CE. Coria is also voting about an alliance with Eston maybe CE will get competition. ;D I'll keep you posted 8)

Kerwin is a pretty handy excuse for "we just want the territory". That, or you guys were banging down Sordnaz's door over Kerwin this whole time and he wasnt telling anybody. Considering how much planning has gone into picking who gets what Duchy and how you'll move realms around, I'd say that's either the case or you were planning it the whole time and we just gave you a reason with the split.

I'm a bit disappointed in how quickly you guys are coming after us without even giving us any chance to distinguish ourselves from the Barony, but we'll have to give you the best fight we can.

I don't disagree, but none of the realm's coming after us have said that. Us deciding to pull ourselves out of the war by forming Heorot is probably the most legitimate reason anyone would have for declaring war on us. To be honest though, who were our allies to begin with though? Darka?

None of those other realms bordering us ever gave us an impression in the Barony that they were allies, especially after Eston rolled over, and we kept hearing rumors they were planning on threatening invasion in exchange for regions. Again, unless Sordnaz was really good friends with them and didn't tell us anything.

However, you also assume that Heorot was founded as a continuation of this practice. The order to stop helping MI wasn't made by anyone in Heorot right now. (Maduin actually wanted to go back and fix his mistake.)

Ender, I think he's talking about MI. Though, come to think of it, MI was never a true ally anyway. We joined up to fight the CE, not because we were buddies. Eston and Darka were our real allies before the whole thing began, but Eston always did strange things with the alliance (remember, this is from the perspective of my Barony character). We've had problems with MI ever since we first allied; we'd follow your orders and then you wouldn't follow your own orders. The stuff after ML was formed was the first time I could recall where we actually misunderstood your orders and got ourselves killed... but by then, ML was already a sure thing. We couldn't possibly push back Tara's defense.

Ahh. From what we saw in the Barony, I wouldnt have said MI was a true Barony ally either. The last stuff I remember hearing about MI was mostly that they needed the Barony's help against Minas Leon and then there was that whole thing with orders no being shared, but being shared, so we all sided with Maduin and said "bah!". The Eston alliance never made sense to Ender, especially when it escalated all the way to federation. Everything always just seemed to bring us together just because we had a common enemy, not because anyone cared what happened to each other along the way.

Which, I think I've seen people say before, is probably one of the reasons our Northern Alliance was never super successful.

Ender's world awareness is pretty dim, partly by choice and party thanks to Sordnaz being really vague with foreign policy, so there are probably things I've missed, but that's how it goes.

Pretty much.

CE is directly allied with:
Coria
Minas Leon
Rieleston
Strombran
Suville
Talerium
Tara (Federation)

And allied-by-association to:
Caergoth (via both Minas Leon and Tara)
Carelia (via Tara, and again via Caergoth)
Eston (via Rieleston)
Lyonesse (via Rieleston) (Eston and Lyonesse are also allied)

This leaves only:
Barony of Makar (at war with CE, Coria, Strombran, and Tara)  - has only 4 regions left
Heorot (at war with Eston and Tara) - formed out of Barony regions
Darka (at war with CE, Coria, Strombran, and Tara)

So... yeah.

It won't, most likely. Within the network of allied-by-associations, there are tensions. Suville and Carelia are more or less enemies, but Tara prefers to back Carelia while CE's chosen horse appears to be Suville. Caergoth is also favored by Tara. Coria and Tara are not on the best terms. Minas Leon may or may not have thoughts about eventually reclaiming Shanandoah (which was once upon a time a part of MI). Coria also favors Eston whereas CE probably favors Rieleston.

The next conflict after this is over will probably develop in the southeast is my guess. Who knows though, the mess that used to be Eston might breed some conflict as well. Of course once the southeast is broken up and reordered to the preferences of CE (something that I assume is inevitable in the long run), I have no idea what will happen. My guess is that the north will by that time be a mess of small realms founded in the remains of Darka, Eston and BoM, so that could be a rich breeding ground for conflict (it might even take precedence over conflict in the southeast). The problem of course is that CE will be tempted to play favorites which will stifle opportunities for conflict and eventually end with the consolidation of the north into Cagilan allies and client states, and then what? Hard to see what happens after that.
Title: Re: Post News Here for our Facebook Page
Post by: Dante Silverfire on March 28, 2013, 09:15:26 PM
I figure both the southeast and the north will continue to be breeding grounds for conflict. The problem is that the Central part of Atamara will NOT be such a breeding ground. Which means, CE and co who live in the central part of Atamara can simply continue to piggy back on conflicts and either stop them from happening or join on a side to force a winner. They have no reason not to. Lack of war will lose nobles.

It's not like anyone will ever be able to compete with Tara or CE after this in size.

Correct me if I am wrong, but BoM wasn't even helping Darka in battle AFAIK. That and if Darka's noble count continues to rise, so will there military capabilities (cs numbers). Darka has gained 16 active characters since January so they now have 76, only 2 less than CE. (The statistics definition of active characters.)

We weren't. Not that there was much time to do it, but for the most part the orders we kept getting were just to refit, travel to a region, refit, travel back. There wasnt much being sad publicly about us marching to help Darka.

And to be fair, Darka losing the war does not equal everyone on Atamara having no choice but to follow CE. The fact that everyone is currently planning a war only to destroy other realms is what's causing that. The regions south of Heorot lands just seem greedy to run north as far from CE as they can get, but it doesnt solve anyone's problems in doing that. It's not as if CE stops exerting that same influence over them they already have.
Title: Re: Post News Here for our Facebook Page

BoM was a distraction for the south. So long as they were united and "strong" there were members of the League much more interested in killing BoM. With BoM dead, the entire league can focus on wiping Darka off the map. It doesn't matter how strong they are. With 100 nobles they couldn't win this war. They don't have the cs, they don't have the moral support of anyone at this point, and they're completely surrounded.

(First of all, oh man, quote pyramid!)

There was a large chunk of time where the Barony showed up to as many battles as we possibly could have. We actually caused one of your pushes into Cantril by making the CE chase us down in the mountains. I can't say why, but we just couldn't raise the CS to provide a meaningful impact on any war since we stopped fighting Minas Ithil. It's not for a lack of trying on the active characters' parts.

Even now, when Heorot is formed and still facing utter destruction, we may only raise 10k CS. We've just got too many inactive nobles and probably poor gold distribution (I wouldn't know, since I'm a poor lord that gives his excess away to his troops).

ACTUAL NEWS

The realms of Darka, Barony of Makar and Heorot have officially surrendered, knowing the impossible situation before them. The Caglian Empire and their allies have finally secured the entirety of Atamara. The League of the Eagle has begun building ships to bring war to Dwilight, expecting the combined might of all Atamara to be sufficient enough to take on the many realms that comprise Dwilight.

When interviewed, General Enri admitted that this had been the Caglian Empire's plan all along. "We knew we'd be able to take Atamara. You'd be a fool to think defeating Vikings would satisfy us; they were just too lazy to sail to Dwilight!"

The Cagilan Empire has proclaimed Merlin Silverfire Emperor of Atamara. It turns out that the Prime Minister and General really just wanted to say that they had won Atamara before turning over control to a puppet. Oh heck yes. Give us a cross-island invasion fleet, and I'm pretty sure CE can convince Darka and Heorot to join forces and invade Dwilight. After all, why fight a losing war when you can go loot some poor sap who's weaker than you?

We'll even let you pick whether we attack Aurvandil or SA. Are you listening dev team? ;D

Zuma. Let's see if you can do it!

On behalf of the Darkan High Council, we accept your statement of Empire loss and suggest a joint pillaging of Outer Tilog for a brisk game of Peasant Bowling.  If the devs work quick through the next five months, we could be sailing the intercontinental invasion fleet in time for a Rollsovar BBQ.

Mmmm.....BBQ of Eternal Damnation.... ;D

Is Atamara always so quiet in the ruler's channel during a war or does the whole of Atamara just not care? Over half the war declarations against Heorot have gone without anyone bothering to even say why they're doing it.

I figured having a ruler on Atamara for the first time would be a bit more exciting than this, but its turning out to be not a whole lot different than just playing with a bunch of quiet players in the Barony.

Well, you can always go exchange letters with Triple-K and see what it's like to be

GREETING'D!
at the start of every letter.

I've received "strongly worded letters" before iRL, but I can;t help but think I'd pay more attention if they started like that more often.

GREETINGS!

Yeah, Atamara is an awful, awful island to be a ruler on. They're all so old and jaded that most of them aren't especially active anymore, so they don't generally bother to say anything beyond what's absolutely necessary. All the important things are decided in private conversations well before something like a declaration of war actually takes place, so once it gets to that point there's nothing that needs to be said; everyone already knows where they stand, so the kind of grandstanding you might want to do on other islands to affect the opinion of neutral realms is almost entirely unnecessary. On Atamara, everyone already knows who's on who's side when the war starts. There are no neutral realms.

In a shocking turn of events, Yung Dlrt, Lord of Jerkel, rediscovered the ancient, forgotten Viking drink that is known by legend as "button". The act of drinking such a magical drink, which is referred to by the stories as "pressing buttons", is supposed to imbue the drinker with a wide variety of entirely random, quite mysterious, and sometimes very dangerous qualities.

The button in question imbibed by Yung gave him the ability to go absolutely berserk and destroy a local temple of the Horgr. When confronted with his heresy by local leader of the faith Salem O'Claude Ve, Yung admitted to having pressed the wrong button and offered to repay the faith for the destruction of the temple and build a new one.

It is now expected that Yung will share the recipe for making buttons and share them with his Viking comrades. This will either lead to a lot of excellent Viking parties or the downfall of Atamara as we know it.

Darkan army repelled Cagilans and their allies attack on Wisitir. Darkans were behind very old palisades, which were built long time ago. Those palisades were destroyed on this battle and cant be rebuilt.

This battle was thus very expensive on both sides. There was also discussion between some enemy nobles and King of Darka about ending the war. KK told that he has requested terms for ending the war from enemy half dozen times without reply, other than armies marching towards Darka.

Time will show, if CE & its allies grow tired to march to Darka and get bounced time after time. Will Darka be able to fend them off? For now, it looks good. This was first major battle fought on Darkan lands. Before this battles had occured on Coria or ex Estons lands.

Peasants in the region continue to be baffled at the Darkan nobles' explanation that they need to attack Corian lands in order to damage CE as a realm. Many peasants had moved to Coria at the beginning of the war in order to avoid the devastation that Darka had promised on CE, but ended up being burned out of the new homes that they had just moved in to make.

Then again, they are just peasants and don't understand the ways of those higher beings who call themselves noble.

To be fair, Coria really owes its allies a big one for basically keeping them alive during this war. Not so much CE as Tara, but since Tara is basically just an extension of CE, you get the picture. That's driving Coria's participation right now, that and a certain desire in some quarters to see Darka suffer for all the looting and such not that they did in Coria.

Darka knows, CE cant do much to them... Darka has decent relations with its neighbours, so there is no threat to lose land(other than rogue)... CE has now wasted a LOT gold and efforts and have not yet hurt Darka at all. Then again, Darka cant hurt CE, with luck they could only harm a bit Coria...

So, its war which cant be "win" for now. CE has won the war already... now its only matter how much Darka is willing to lose.

If you aren't afraid of Darka, the strongest realm on the continent, then you're stupid. Ignoring the capabilities of their army, and their track record of performance is stupid. People don't hold grudges against incompetent realms, because that incompetence prevents them ever creating a situation for a grudge to be formed. Holding a grudge against a powerful realm, is stupid unless you can hold your own against them.

The ONLY reason it is even viable to discuss a war between Coria and Darka is because its not even remotely 1v1.

A lack of fear is different from a lack of respect. Ravendon doesn't hold a grudge against Darka. What appears to be a majority of Coria does. I really do respect Darka's strength, but I don't fear it because it's not enough to change Atamara alone. For now, we are safe. Personally, I wish we weren't (hence my remark). It's no mystery that Coria's normal forces haven't been visible. With a real threat, we either crumble under the pressure or finally get our act together.

In a large ceremony, your family commemorates the dead Siegterm, a legend known all over the world. For days, the family graveyard swarms with his friends and admirers. Artists compose songs and poems about him, and young maidens cry in their chambers.

The legendary Hero Siegterm Guldan was buried today after leaving his last breath defending his homeland from the combined forces of MiCE and its puppets. His graveyard is still swarming with friends and admirers. Songs and sung and tales are told for his braveness in the field. His brother Skiarxon Guldan known bane among the continents has sworn vengeance. Will Atamara witness another hat trick of stabbings like the last time? Will he able to turn the tide of battles again in the name of revenge? The world will have to wait.

There are whispers that the traitorous scum Juan Dela Cruz who left Darka in tears after found guilty of treachery and his brother with the name Jar Jar (is that even a name for a noble?) will be the first targets.

Reports from Heorot are telling the tale today of how Dread Lord Ender Neill returned from a Minas Leon prison, grabbed his old Executioner's axe, and dragged Rieleston infiltrator Elroy Anderbliss from his cell and out into the streets of Brackhead. Without waiting for a crowd to truly gather, and too old to care for ceremony, he kicked the man's legs out from under him and chopped his head off.

Onlookers report that the Dread Lord then lifted his axe onto his shoulder, picked up the decapitated head, and walked through the doors of the nearest mead hall where he made the casual announcement that he'd executed the assassin and needed a good drink to celebrate.

Word spreads throughout Atamara of the secession of the Duchy of Frekpotis from Coria, and new-found King Silverfire's words prior to the action:

Nobles of Coria,

I speak to you today with both a solemn heart for that which has passed, and a deep yearning for that which is to come. Exactly 1,467 days ago, I stood upon the very same spot that I do now, and founded the realm of Coria alongside my fellow nobles from the Cagilan Empire. Only two of those fellow nobles remain here in Coria today, so many years later. I began Coria as its founding General, and later served through the positions of Consul, Judge, and Duke at various stages. I have fought long and hard to develop Coria into the realm that it is today.

Today, the Corian Senate has granted me the authority to secede my duchy and create a new realm for us. As King of this new realm, I will lead our people and our realm to even greater heights and provide the strength and stability that our realm needs to move forward.

Therefore, I hereby formally announce the end of the Republic of Coria and the beginning of the Kingdom of Silnaria.

Founding General of Coria,

Merlin Silverfire

Reports circulating from the North recently say that Brackhead now flies the banners of Minas Leon after a lengthy occupation of the former Viking capital. The fall of Brackhead marks the official destruction of the Viking Realm of Heorot. Vikings who stayed until the end have been seen moving to other corners of the world, intent on carrying on the Viking traditions that would otherwise have died with Heorot.

For the fuller story, Menedor, Anfalas, Shanandoah, and Lothruin were part of Coria, whose Senate voted sovereignty and inheritance of diplomacy to silnaria. Shanandoah was quickly taken by Silnaria. Anfalas' lord voted for this measure, then betrayed his realm to Tara. Tara has ignored any communications about its return and recently occupied Menedor and Lothruin, still in allegiance to coria (via the rebel munro/xenophon faction, only 4 nobles in the realm). They left, claiming they wanted to return to the darkan war. Silnaria finally moved to takeover Menedor, but its lord changed allegiance to Tara partway through. Lothruin revolted from the corian rebels, but likely due to taran occupations, were coerced into joining Tara rather than Silnaria. Menedor's landlord was sanctioned as an enemy of the republic by Coria's Senate and is an illegitimate ruler. Silnaria offered equal relations, as commanded by the Corian Senate, but Tara refused communications and occupied silnarian lands. It is Tara who has attacked Silnaria, its legal ally.

The only reason Silnaria isn't following the footsteps of Coria is because of the League's refusal to recognize Silnaria as Coria's successor, including Ottar. Ottar chose to ignore an alliance that was offered to him. And the TO of Menedor was begun while the region was 'Coria', not Taran. The lord switched allegiance to Tara after the takeover began. A takeover can't be started without being at war, so Silnaria can't TO regions at this moment. So its completely disingenuous to say Silnaria started taking over Taran regions.

Yes, you are right Silnaria and Tara has not ever been allies. So Silnaria isn't following Corias footsteps in anyway. One thing is sure and you cant twist that. Menedor is under Tara's banner and Silnaria tries to TO it.   Don't twist game mechanis bty saying that Tara took those regions. Couple ofLords did choose to change their allegiance to Tara instead of living under Silnaria and that madman. Of course Tara will try to protect those Nobles.  I heard a rumour that mindplague is coming from Freakpot.

I heard a rumor that it apparently has already infected you if you honestly believe any of that. Menendor was being TO'ed and its lord switched allegiance mid TO, so don't try and twist game mechanics to make Silnaria into some aggressor when its known that neutral parties can't TO. I thought Merlin was a bit crazy based on what I'd heard before joining Coria, but the real madmen are his neighbors. I understand and fully respect propaganda and the like, but what I see here is just toxic, and those spinning this kind of crap appear to really, actually believe it. Its baffling, and probably unhealthy.

You just did twist it... Silnaria tried very hard to follow in Coria's footsteps. The only reason we aren't is because others decided it'd be a great idea to remove our feet. If any of this were actually in the form of news, I'd just post a counter news release... but it isn't. The takeover on Menedor started before Tara owned it. In fact, it was a third of the way done. Since the conversion, we haven't performed any TO actions -- it's game mechanically impossible.

I do agree on one point: Tara didn't take those regions, they were given to Tara. Where Tara is at fault is not returning them. If you don't consider this preventing Silnaria from following in Coria's footsteps, I just don't know what to say. Logic apparently doesn't work.

Honestly, I wish Tara would just have the balls to do what they clearly want to do and declare war on Silnaria. Stop feeding the caustic atmosphere and just get into a real war with clear winners and losers.

BREAKING NEWS FROM TARA, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Silnaria is attacking Tara and trying to takeover Menedor. Menedor chose to change its allegiance to Tara as its lord could not trust Silnaria's current ruler. Silnaria has now shown what it has become, attacking its former ally.

There. Happy now?

Admittedly, I do often forget that. Though... "former ally" is still 100% wrong, even as propaganda. Tara's never been allied with Silnaria, unless they do accept them as successors... in which case, they are knowingly supporting rebels against Silnaria. It's a paradox. I also wasn't referring to the original post, but Zadar's response to the other OOC dialogue.

I'll play along though:

Quote
Silnarian officials maintain Tara is ignoring Coria's last wishes and supporting the dissenting minority by holding Silnarian lands captive. At a speech in Shanandoah, Chief Ambassador and General Ravendon noted that Silnaria has no issue with Tara's sheltering of these dissenting nobles, but the lands they took are rightfully Silnarian. He went on to say that the battle in Lothruin was a mistake, having been a Corian region when orders were issued and Silnaria continues to seek peace with Tara, despite their warmongering.

Meanwhile massive anti-war protests are rocking Tara. Concerns about the process by which the extremely addictive amphetamines that have the nation firmly under the tyrannical hand of Ottar are created have caused protesters to begin demanding cleaner, safer Methamphetamine labs... KK really wants to retire... but he cant retire when he has brought Darka to edge of existence... he need first end this war.

Word spreads of the Taran invasion of Silnaria:

Quote
Message sent to the Rulers of Atamara (15 recipients)
Rulers of Atamara,

The greatest threat to any realm is the loss of its sovereignty. Over the past weeks since the foundation of Silnaria, the Tyranny of Tara has endeavored to deprive Silnaria of its sovereign rights as an independent sovereign realm. They have interfered in an internal civil war between Silnaria and Coria, occupied our lands, sought to commit regicide, lain siege to two of Silnaria's cities and cut our realm in half with their armies, and finally began an invasion of our lands through the taking and refusal to return nearly 25% of our realm's lands. Even now, while Dictator has publicly claimed to denounce assassin attacks upon rulers, he shelters an assassin who did just that within his realm while welcoming him with open arms.

Just over 7 days and 9 hours ago, I issued a statement that Silnaria would not simply allow a realm to deprive us of our sovereignty simply because they are stronger than us, and have the military force to defeat us on the battlefield. All of the above grievances are each individually a rightful reason to fight a war in our defense, but through the combined weight of these assaults, it is readily apparent that Tara has already declared war on Silnaria and is in the process of carrying out that war through multiple means.

I asked that Tara stop interfering our internal conflict and return the lands which they hold no claim to within 7 days or it would be seen as an act of war. I even offered to delay such a demand if I received even a single communication seeking a diplomatic solution to the conflict. I have received zero correspondence from any representative of Tara seeking to end this situation peacefully and no action has been taken to rectify the problem.

As such, it is with great regret, but with much fortitude that I am forced to recognize that Tara declared war on Silnaria long ago, and is intentionally using the lack of an official war declaration as a means of preventing us from defending ourselves from their attacks. Therefore, Silnaria officially recognizes the state of war that already exists between the realms of Silnaria and Tara. Silnaria will continue to fight until our regions are returned to us, and measures put in place to prevent Tara from using its status as a large and powerful realm to simply override the sovereignty of the weak. This war could easily end tomorrow, all we await is Tara to seek such a reasonable end.

His Majesty,

Merlin Silverfire
King of Silnaria
Duke of Coria

In addition, word spreads of the King of Silnaria making an open call for aid:

"Any who claim to fight for honor, integrity, and loyalty should come join the Silnarian banner. Our realm is beset on all sides by those who would see these values destroyed to cover up their greed, malice, and deprivation of all those who don't bend the knee to their hegemonic tendencies. We fight not just for our lands and values, but for our very sovereignty. We are outnumbered, outmatched, and face terrible odds tactically to overcome a realm with nearly twice our strength seeking to invade and destroy us. Yet, we shall not back down, but instead will represent the hope and freedom of Atamara. Our realm will be destroyed before we accept foreign control of our internal politics and let the large realms bully us. Join us and defend what is right!"

International intrigue afoot! The Central Atamaran News Agency has got wind of further developments in the ongoing saga of Silnaria. It seems that a new noble of the realm went on a looting spree in Tara, a land currently experiencing a tense diplomatic situation with its neighbor. When cautioned, the noble persisted and received the maximum fine possible from the High Magistrate. This was not enough, however, as the looting continued and the noble has since been banned. But what does this mean for relations? Will Tara be satisfied with the quick response and zero-tolerance policy? What of the rumors that this was orchestrated? This reporter, for one, can't even begin to guess which side is responsible. Our diplomatic experts suggest that this risky play could have benefits for either side! More news as the story develops.

In other news, Atamara seems to have been featured recently by our global affiliate. They certainly do love us over here; we've always got another high-energy report lined up!

Tara  continued to investigate this looting .After his banishment from Silnaria he joined Tara and we found out that he was on a mission from Silnaria following King Merlins orders. What kind of king give an order to loot and then ban him.

Orders from Merlin Silverfire (2 days, 2 hours ago)
Sir Josep,

I am glad to hear you're willing to sacrifice for our proud realm. Your mission is simple, enter Taran lands and loot for as long as you can, draw their forces south if it is at all possible. If you need to take refuge, Carelia will allow you to pass into their lands.

Should you be successful, you will be rewarded with gold and land that we take from the Tarans as well as being allowed to keep any spoils you gather from this mission.

Regards,
Merlin Silverfire
King of Silnaria
Royal of Silnaria
Duke of Coria
Margrave of Barad Falas

I highly object to the posting of an "in-game" letter supposedly from my character on facebook. Not only is the letter a forgery but, if it WAS written by my character, it should definitely not be put up on the facebook page without my permission.

Azerax, I request you immediately remove that letter from the facebook.

Zadar, Please don't post letters from my characters on facebook, or forgeries of letters on facebook.

While this place is fine for propaganda, there is a difference between propaganda and IC letters being used. IC letters are fine when it is the one writing it asking for it to be posted. Otherwise, I think that should not be occurring.

There is a significant difference.

If the post said explicitly that the letter was forged, then it would probably be acceptable (but still borderline).

Otherwise, it is just my word against his that it is or isn't a forgery. Therefore, it should never have been allowed to be posted without my permission. I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere about the full transcription of in-game messages to out-of-game locations. This should NOT be allowed.

Personally, I'd refrain from having any letters posted in this thread specifically. These are news reports likely by commoners. (Game generated messages are already in a form I'd expect any class to see.)

But that's just my take.
Title: Re: Post News Here for our Facebook Page

Regardless of whether the letter is real or fake, you should not be posting IC letters outside the game unless your character is the one that wrote the letter. This is especially true if they are private letters to a limited audience, such as a small guild/council/personal.

Posting fake letters you wrote yourself, and claiming OOC that they are real is just being a jerk.

Already it is gathering OOC support for an IC issue when the letter is a 100% forgery. I asked you to remove it so please do so.

Not to mention the complete inappropriate nature for Zadar to post this when he's already made OOC accusations against me for abuse with on ongoing Magistrate case.

The incompetent Strombran thief known as Escent Noble was caught once again in the act of attempted regicide of Silnaria's King. Truly, one would expect such a well renowned man of the night to not so easily fail in the act of an attempted killing. Even the peasants could be heard mocking his name on the streets...

In other news, an attempted rebellion in Silnaria was quickly crushed even though Merlin, the King of Silnaria, was mildly ill when the rebellion began. It wasn't even able to reach success with both the Banker and General of the realm amongst the rebels.

The whispers once again begin speaking of how all of those who oppose Merlin somehow seem to lose power, disappear, or outright fail. What kind of unknown power or strength does this King Merlin possess to be so untouchable?
