I want a character on BT. Any suggestions for realms? And why...?
-
Thalmarkin or Nothoi probably.
They are fighting.
-
Ar Agyr!
Always picking the fight with anybody who oppose their might.
-Jaune

Unless it's Thalmarkin. You can't suck their socks fast enough. :-[
-
Oohh... I see what you did there. Nice.
-
Thalmarkin has hardly opposed Ar Agyr's might. ;)
I'm guessing you can have fun in pretty much every realm if you commit your character. Not all realms have as much nobles and of course in those smaller realms things are not as vibrant as in the bigger ones but they need other committed characters all the more.
Right now this is the situation:
Thalmarkin, Ar Agyr, Old Grehk, Spearhold and Gotland are fighting on the side of the King of Kings.
Nothoi and Caelum are actively opposing those realms. The Vales just had a little civil war going which the Ivory Vale has won. They were both opposing the King of Kings though. Riombara have lowered their relation with the Ivory Vale as a result. Riombara of course also opposes the King of Kings but have not been seen on a battlefield for months, in stead providing financial aid afaik.
Fronen has surrendered to the King of Kings but are not participating in the war.
The main fronts are Caelum and Spearhold, which also got a bit of an independent war going on and Old Grehk and Nothoi.
-
I started in Riombara but found that realm to be a bit introverted.
They had many regions without Lords yet had more knights than Lords. Power there was horded by a small group of nobles who each had multiple titles.

A problem which can be resolved with the coming update. I am sure Riombara will be forced to change many things.
-
They are, without a doubt, the most ridiculous realm ever.
-
The King of Kings is just Sad that the Queen of Queens is not there, lol.
-
I just joined IVF with a new character.
Seems like a realm with some interesting characters. Placed a little away from the action (and a little to close to Riombara), though.
-
So start some action close to home. Attack Riombara. I bet they're bored.
-
Anything fun happening in Caelum? Is the blue flame still kicking around?
-
Riombara is a paper tiger. They run 3 armies for 12 nobles! What the hell?!?! Are they that infatuated with titles?
-
I'm sure that they get more gold as a knight than a lord.
-
Blue flame died as soon as moto left. They were portrayed as a bunch of traitors that tried to destroy us.
-
I'm sure that they get more gold as a knight than a lord.
Some of the knights had estates in rural regions. Further they had 2 townslands and a city without Lords. So no, in this case you are wrong.
-
Join Nothoi or Caelum!
They are fighting the good fight against the tyranny of the King of Kings!
Stand fast good men against the tyranny of autocracy!
;)
-
The last time I was in Caelum, the realm was really bad. One of the worst realms I've ever joined...
-
I must say that I did not much enjoy playing in it myself. That is why I pulled my warrior character into Nothoi some time ago.
But I know things change.
And I know Caelum has gone through a lot of changes.
So I would hope that that has changed.
:)
-
Caelum is much better now than it used to be. We haven't protested anyone out in months. :D We do have some active players now, and a cohesive goal, and people who are not afraid to take a stance. The changes in spearhold have freed us of a lot of diplomatic baggage.
-
Ar Agyr is fun. We had a short inactivity slump, but now everything is up and running and there's action to be found along with a lot of maneuverability. Even more so now probably since a few lords will have to leave due to the character limits.
-
Riombara so far seems like as boring as ever.
-
Which is why they need someone to organize a dozen or so character to emigrate there and spice things up.

Well my char is on his way, but I'll prob visit Nothoi first and see if they're willing to negotiate.
-
Thalmarkin! Always choose for the King of Kings!

King of Kings? You must realize that I've never set foot on BT ever. Not on my old account either. Is that some sort of Arcaean Emperor concept or so?
Also I think I'm already making friends in Nothoi! The Duke of Reeds seems to be ready to kick me out I guess, after being there for less than a turn :)
-
What on earth did you do?
-
It depends on which side you ask. :P As with most wars, things get twisted. Especially when the war's been going on over an OOC year.
One perspective is a voluntary allegiance out of respectful recognition that Fingolfin is the only ruler who has withstood invasions, and he was not only just around when they happened, but he ruled through several (I forget the exact number 2 or 3), never allied with inhuman forces, directly challenged Overlord, took brunt of Overlord's attack, and killed Overlord. Lorgan can wax eloquent on these points. Fingolfin doesn't decide matters for other realms in anything except one thing. He is recognized as the final decision-maker in case of inhuman invasion, to prevent the problem in past invasions of humans squabbling as equal rulers and using invasions as tools for their realm's advancement to the detriment of humanity as a whole, even allying with inhumans against other humans. Much righteousness in the King and he has the most majestic beard of all.
The other perspective is indeed the imperialist tyrant imposing his view upon the world with deceit, treachery, and lies and a fight for freedom.
I might be more familiar with one side than another.

I entered Nothoi and opened negotiations with them. Duke of Reeds was not particularly fond of the idea of handing over Creasur to receive the support of about a dozen nobles in the war.
*Edit, and apparently he thought I threathened Nothoi by saying that if negotiations fail he has no choice but to look at other parties as well, including Nothoi's enemies.

I see, interesting. I always love the two (extreme) sides of the same story concept, makes it feel real. Well as far as Ginas is concerned, those invasions are greatly exaggerated anyway. As I said, never been to BT myself, so the Gabanus family has no information on the continent, nor the history.

Come on! You get there and say "hey give me half your realm or i'll fight for your enemy" to one of the oldest nobles, founder of the realm, and expect a good welcome?
-
Nasty Thalmarkin and their allies. Hypocrites all! Claim to be working against invaders and for humans. Yet they freely use large numbers of summoning scrolls to summon monsters and undead against their enemies. I hear they have official government appointees to research and use magic summoning scrolls to best effect against realms that won't bow to their will.

Who says I was expecting a good welcome? I was expecting fun and so far I'm getting it. It fits perfectly with Ginas RP so far (if you would've known his rulership and everything).
But why shouldn't I come in to a country and 'negotiate/demand' a better place for my nobles? Better than serving some foreign lord and just boringly fight a war :p

Completely agree with you, it is fun. Just went with the wrong argument to the wrong duke

Actually the Duke of Creasur hasn't spoken yet. It's the Duke of Reeds who is so opposing the idea. We'll see what Remorse has to say about it, as well as the other council members. So far we've only heard 2 of them speak :)
Otherwise we'll have 2 other options to emigrate to I guess, ending up on the wrong side of the border. That would be funny in itself as well.
-
Vita's summary sums it up pretty well. Fingolfin is revered by his realm as it is their belief that he, with themselves on his side, saved humanity in the last invasion and is the only one who stands between the entirety of humanity and infinite darkness in the imminent next Invasion.

Good thing you reminded me of that again... It's been sorta dormant since we lost the last Grand Wizard and a whole bunch of advies. But we've gotten plenty new advies later, time to revive it. :)
The purpose is gathering and using non-summoning scrolls however.
Also, Thalmarkin has not once used summoning scrolls en masse in this war. There've been incidents with nobles using them, naturally, but it's never been condoned or encouraged. I do know of instances they were strategically used by allies however and I think the current ruler of Spearhold has some dark cult around them. But well, I'm just happy they recognize the King of Kings already. ;) Which is why I have deliberately not informed Fingolfin of those instances, nor pushed the fact that Southern realms are using scrolls as well.

Glad to see fun times in Nothoi. Our own new arrivals have stirred some up some dust as well (though not such great clouds) and I like it. :)
-
Oh, Ivory Vale's entire realm council stepped down. So that's a thing.

Remorse is a bit slow to reply sometimes, but we tend to agree (as I am the duke of Reeds xD)

Ah so you're the Duke of Reeds :)
Well I always got along well with Escent noble, so we'll see what Remorse says. But at this stage it seems we may reach an entirely different agreement alltogether. Depending on how Nothoi replies to my last letter. Somehow I can never really argue with the Chamberlain family :p
-
Ivory Vale - Our Entire Ruling Council (and one of our Dukes) left.
So much room for activities!

Oh yeah, you guys would give me one or 2 cities to form a new realm? :p
-
The Atamaran Vale?
-
The Atamaran Vale?
Sounds good. Atamaran in short and then "The Atamaran Vale" as the long version :p
-
Join Fronen.
-
Join Fronen.
And what would be the reason to join Fronen then? Can't say this is quite convincing tbh

I just joined and got randomly elected to leader. It's the place to be apparently. Trust me.
-

Well you do know that if I join, you'll lose that position as leader again? :p
-
Did you live in Fronen before?
-
Now if we can just get Fronen back to the side of light at goodness, all will be well in the universe again...
;)
-
Im coming into Fronen with pretty much zero knowledge of it. Ive ran realms before so Im hoping it'll be a help. Its really fun starting in a realm with little knowledge, sending out probes , finding out stuff. Hoping to take Fronen into fresh new directions without veering too hard. Akrogath Apasurain is not his nutty brother Glaumring. Hes the overshadowed younger brother with a bit more of a steady and less chaotic edge to him.
-
Well with how things are going right now, I think every realm is going to become really really interesting within the next week or so.
-
Did you live in Fronen before?
No, this is my first time on BT ever (including old account), but my char is one of those guys who never comes alone :p
-
Unusual Sounds (7 hours, 11 minutes ago)
Across the realm, a shuffling sound is heard. Others report hearing croaking sounds.
Panic! (6 hours, 36 minutes ago)
Many have fallen ill from the recent fish bounty. All animals are in a panic to escape to...anywhere. Not even the rats, cockroaches, and flies remain. Those who haven't been caged have already left and the wildlands are eerily silent....until you look around. And notice Them. All around you. All over Beluaterra. And *you* panic.
Fronen, Tindle: 200 Giant Frogs - 5450 CS [Fortifications:no]
Verdomite: 320 Flesh-eating Ghouls - 3800 CS [Fortifications:Motte and Bailey (2)]
Ippetimbal: 210 Giant Frogs - 6600 CS [Fortifications:Palisade (1)]
Fascinating 15850 CS Rogue in one turn..
-
Interesting that it was the ghouls who were the weakest...
-
Ph3ar teh frogs!
-

So far in Nothoi they seem to come from the forests and mountains. Looking forward to what's gonna happen.
-
Any good realm to join? Recommend to me, I have 1 character to migrate out from Colonies. Sheesh, why on earth I have so many Honor characters to migrate? :D

I would recommend Ivory Vale

Riombara's where I'm headed! I played there on my old account years ago and loved it. :)

Riombara then and Riombara now are totally different things...
-
Nothoi! Should be the port for landing in this storm.

Yep! Which means it's the perfect opportunity to try and reform it!

Sadly, yeah, I'm a little slow sometimes but I can at least blame it on Remorse being really really old! ;)

All your chars are really really old :)
Anyway, I'll keep making fuzz anyway. Although the non-invasion thing becomes more and more difficult to maintain atm heh!
-
Do you like a realm where people are appointed on a more or less random basis? Do you like Goats? Are you prepared to slowly become insane? There is a realm tucked away up north where you can find satisfy all your weird fetishes and nobody cares!
