How can we have a harbour and shipyard at the capital, since according to the map it is landlocked?!?!?
Muspelheim at Morek, DW has both built.

Do they help the entire Duchy?

Unfortunately they effect the game, mainly in the form of peasant reaction to the war with these realms.
Not much, but they do.

In Atamara, Hammarsett   still exists, although the realm has surrendered.

Hammarsett    Anarchy   (nobody)    (regions) 0      (Nobles) 0   (Advs) 1

In DW we have 2 realms like this:

Pian en Luries    Anarchy   (nobody)    (regions) 0      (Nobles) 0   (Advs) 3
Angroth                Anarchy   (nobody)    (regions) 0      (Nobles) 0   (Advs) 3

Is this because of the Adventurers?

If so, the system should be changed and the realm should stop to exist as soon as the last noble leaves it.
The commoners have no say in where they belong. If there is not other reson (time limit etc.) I would like to file a bug report.

Questions & Answers / Re: Message language
« on: September 17, 2012, 01:59:22 PM »
No. That goes way beyond what a casual game should require of you. Also, we can assume that letters are already en-/decrypted by the scribes. Which is why there is no in-game option to capture messengers and intercept letters.
Plus all that is not something that the noble characters should bother with.

I totally agree with Tom in this.
You should also consider that if you are tortured, you will confess to any cipher you are using as well.
And, as mentioned, Nobles would never decode letters themselves. Scribes would do it, so the information is out there for a spy to get.

Can we use other than English languages in OCC messages?
(of course to people who also speak that language)

In Atamara

Realm Report for Eston   (1 hour, 40 minutes ago)
message to all nobles of Eston

Menedor

The peasants of Menedor have revolted against their old government, the realm of Hammarsett. They have vowed loyalty to your realm instead.
The region joins the duchy of Barad Riel.
The region now needs a lord.

The region appears in the dynamic and old map as part of Hammarsett, region details have it as part of Hammarsett, duchy of Barad Riel (Eston duchy).
Forgot to mention that the region details page is the minimum you get for a foreign region, not one of your realm.

In the Eston relm details page it appears under the Barad Riel Duchy, as Occupied - Bleak – Hateful – Stopped. Why did it change realms in the first place if it hates Eston???

Major bug in my book.

Any update on this, or should I file a bug report?
The region in now hanging in the middle.

wait... if there's no lord, there's still a lord's share that goes somewhere, doesn't it? (ie.. a knight will not get the lord's cut) a duke takes his cut off that, no? it's just the bits that the lord keeps for himself that'll vanish? (does tax rate drop to 10% or default or something low?)

have to say.. i think i haven't seen an actual example.

I will let you know next tax day most propably, as we have a lordless region right now.

Velax, both of your quotes are true. This is why I say yes and no at the same time.

Taxes are imposed from someone above you, but are collected bottom up, and some of it reaches the top.

But taking advantage of a situation is what ravens do best. Seriously. Did you even look at my family crest? ;D

Have you considered that i chose to say crow because of your crest?  ;)

Actually, taxes are imposed from the top down. Rulers tax dukes; dukes tax lords; lords tax regions and knights.

The answer to this is yes and no.
There is of course a hierarchy, but there are also 3 distinct tax structures.
If there is 0 tax collected on the base, there is nothing to collect higher up.
And the bottom grunt (Region lord) has total control of how much tax he will collect.
A lord taxing the min 5%, without an estate would produce in a wealthy region essentially no revenue for the crown, and very little for the Duke.

Step down and endorse someone more radical.

Piss off one of your dukes so badly that they secede.

Attack Minas Ithil. They are a juicy target and don't have any real friends left.

Attack BoM. They are half your size.

Attack Darka. They took one of your cities. (Which will probably convince at least one of your dukes to secede, because, let's face it, Eston is still Darka's battered girlfriend.)

There are lots of ways for Eston to "shake things up". All of them involve putting your current position of power and influence at massive, suicidal risk.

So let's be honest with ourselves here. We're not refusing to shake things up because we can't. We don't do it because we don't want to. I say "we" because this applies to me as well.

At least CE still gets to fight battles.  ;D

I believe you realize that all of you suggestions are for CE benefit….
Trying to win the war from the rear again?
The Northern alliance may be shaken-up, but I believe it is too early for the crows to move in.

And after Eston cruses its allies, who will help it stand against the CE? Or will CE welcome it in its alliance?
You want to stir and shake things up? Declare war on Tara, or even Coria or Talerioum. God knows the last 2 are ripe as peaches.

Helpline / Re: Food trade

You can check if the food has arrived in your granary.
It most probably has. For the moment all transactions are supposed to be instantaneous ( Beam me up Scotty!!!  ;D )

Even with the old system, it took some days for the starvation effects to wear off.
I had starvation for a week after I filled a region warehouse with 300 bushels of food, for a devastated region consuming with the troops 15/day.
The region had about 1/12 of it’s population.

he gets the taxes even if he can't do jack like courts/building/food there... actually food would be his biggest issue (most likely there'll be a mountain rotting away and he can't touch it. which is perfectly ok, if he wants to run empty regions)

Regarding taxes, I disagree, because the new system is a bottom up approach.
If the knights have no-one to give the taxes to, they would keep them for themselves. If any made it up the chain, it would be a fraction of what would make it actually, since the chain is broken and there is no control.
