Title: Academy
Post by: Zakilevo on September 03, 2011, 06:26:35 AM
For some reason, it is impossible to train swordfighting for 5-6 hours in Dwilight at the moment. Is this a bug?

I have no idea. You will have to be more elaborate than "it is impossible". A proper error message can help me help you.

Oh it tells me I spend 5 or 6 hours training in the academy spending 28 or 32 gold. and tells me my percentage of training but I still have the same gold and hours afterward.

Did you reload the page, or move to another menu? The lower bar does not update automatically.

I tried this three times.

First with 6hours - the error above happened
Second with 1 hour - worked
Third with 5 hours - the error above repeated

this happened to me as well yesterday. Tried to spend six hours at academy, the next page told me that the tutor estimated my skill blah blah blah. But then when i went to a new page I had the same amount of hours and gold as I did previous to the "training".

Tried a few times without success, then I just decided to train my men which worked as normal.

The issue is somewhere in the part that decides if you were successful or not.

"You pay your 10 gold and proceed to train for 5 hours.

The tutor estimates your Infiltration skill to be about xx %."

and then the message cuts off.

Hours and gold are not reduced

EDIT: I could train for 1 hour on Expert and it worked normally. Does seem to be something with the hours.

errr... actually, it does and has been for about 5 years. :-)

ok, try now.

the indicator for success or failure should be whether or not the line "continue your training" appears at the very bottom. If it does, everything should have worked.

unless when bugged... like now. it only updates when you click some other link, not counting the link to perform (some?all?) actions that uses hours.

Not on the scripts we haven't updated to the Doctrine code, Tom.

The status bar works off the Doctrine objects, and doesn't reload from the DB every time.  In cases where we update the DB through the old code within the script, it will be out of sync until the player loads the next page.

hm, that's true. But Academy has been updated, and the status bar used to re-load before we added Doctrine.

So right now, there are indeed pages that don't. While we're doing the transition.

Trained in the last turns (yesterday) on dwilight and didn't see anything wrong.
