Hi all,
For some reason the Java install is bugged. It downloads the installer, then the file gets deleted and nothing happens. And Java still is not installed.
Suggestions?
Edit: Currently trying the Offline install. Result:
"Error 1330. A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file C:\Documents and Settings\...\Application Data\Sun\Java\...\Data1.cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt."
Uninstall all java editions you can find, delete any remaining files (like the one below), then download a fresh install.
The odd thing is...I can find any editions on the machine. Have deleted most files...
Attempting redownload...
Result: Still no workie.
It it seems as though this is widespread problem with the crappy software (or to be more exact, the certification). I am currently wading through sites trying to find things that will make it work. So far one of them has failed, even though it apparently worked for others.
which version is this?

Version 6 Update 27I''ve been putting off formatting my pc for a long time (even though it needs it), but I reckon now would be a good time. So if I try run it and it
still doesn't work, well...
try java 7? don't see why it should work when that didn't. or try ccleaner or some such. no idea if it does any good.

May as well. I always put off a good backup/format until something pees me off, now seems a good time for you :P
You need to also check your registry for anything java related.
Does seem extreme to format in order to use Java. RuneScape player? :-P
Worse--windows systems administrator (server mostly, although occasional desktop)

Well, if you consider that I am still running XP ;)
There is a license agreement that allows me to get it free legally, except the people who have it haven't paid for it lately, so waiting on that...
funny thing about java. apparently libreoffice doesn't know java 7 exists and think i only have java 6 installed.
Sounds almost like a PATH issue...

I feel like I saw ads for that game before I even got into high school...
Which, judging by what wikipedia tells me, is possible if they had ads for it during their first year I think. Or just about.
nah.. it's just plain unsupported... apparently
