Title: Feature Freeze
Post by: Tom on December 28, 2011, 12:56:02 PM
We are not taking feature requests right now, because we are in the middle of a major code overhaul.

You can still post them, but don't expect them to be added anytime soon. We really need to get the existing code updated first.

So, is this feature freeze still in place, now that I see you posting your own feature ideas?

I think it'll be in place until stable gets all of testing's features. :)

Those ideas are born when I look at the code to convert, and think that a few changes would make things so much easier to convert.

The only thread you started here recently is the "More Estate Features" thread, Tom. How will adding more features make the code easier to convert?

You're not looking hard enough.

I'm guessing Tom was looking at the familiy gold/family home code and had some thoughts.

Well, the new trading code, for example, is a LOT easier to code into Doctrine than the old one would have been. Yes, it took some effort to create an entirely new system, but it was a lot easier to do that NOW compared to converting the old system and then thinking about changes.

From Tom:
QuoteWe have way too many open bugs and TODOs to consider adding minor features for at least half a year.

May-June 2013.
