Title: Peasant migration
Post by: Bael on February 14, 2012, 06:44:28 PM
Can anyone confirm whether being in a different duchy hinders peasant migration between the two regions please? Also, how does migration work to a city? I am referring to one that is extremly under-populated, yet still does not get any migration into it. There is a woodland region around it, but it the woodland region is still under 50% population. Am I correct in assuming that migration away from a region only really kicks into gear once it hits 50% population and there are emptier regions nearby?

No. Realm/duchy boundaries have no affect on the migration, with one exception: Peasants will not migrate into rogue regions, or NPC realms.

I am not sure of the exact percentage, but you are essentially correct.

Many thanks for clearing that up! So presumably migration for cities works just like other regions?

Yes.

Yes.

Thanks for the reply.

I suppose the only question that remains is: Is there anything that I can do to positively affect my population growth? Apart from defending the region and those surrounding from rogues.

Keep it in good shape. We have a little bit of peasant intelligence coded to make them at least try to move to "better" regions than the one they're moving away from.

"Population:       1212/13900
Production:       Stopped (9%)
Morale:       Joyful (100%)
Realm Loyalty:       Worshipful (100%)
Realm Control:       Core"

Can't really do much more than that heh :) Except for "Enthralled", perhaps! Would a region with a lower tax also be considered more desirable? Logically it would, but I'm interested to hear how the code goes (if permitted).

Don't know anything about the code, but yes obviously peasants don't like paying taxes.

No, tax rate is not being considered, because the lord can change it at any time (i.e. it is too easy to exploit - lower it to 1%, let people come in, raise it to max and cash in).
