How much does training your swordfighting skill and jousting skill actually benefit your units?

I think I read swordfighting helps infantry units and jousting helps cavalry units? Maybe I am just thinking this in my head?

I thought this too, but don't know if I've ever read anything to confirm it.

Probably only for heroes.
