Title: Starting a new family
Post by: Jim on August 24, 2012, 12:19:14 AM
So the last of the bloodline of my old family died off, and I decided to delete the family altogether. I have a new family ready to go, because I saw the end coming for some time. The issue I'm having is that my new family can't be created because it would be sharing my personal info with my old family, which is scheduled for deletion. Well, I'm here asking before I act, for good reason.

I found a way around this issue, my old family has the name I go by in it, and I could easily start my new family with my legal name, and one of my other email accounts. Part of me wonders if this is unethical, considering that I would technically have two accounts, though one is locked by GM's and scheduled for deletion and is beyond the point of no return... So it's not really my account anymore. I read through the rules and policies, but it's vague and I'm not sure if this has been brought up before.

I figured it would be better to ask first. Should it be found unethical, then I will wait for deletion, but it leads me to my second question. How long would I have to wait for my old account to be deleted?

T-Rex is a Battlecrackster and needs his fix, been hooked on this since 06.

Anyways, if someone could clarify this for me, I would really appreciate it.

Well if it is scheduled for deletion, it isn't an account anymore. I don't think you can cancel the deletion once you've pressed the button.

Multi-account prevention measures are not intended to keep you from deleting one account and creating another.

I know I don't have any problem with you creating the new account today with a slightly different form of your real name, and I doubt Tom would, either.

That's how I was looking at it, but I wanted to run it past the Devs first. I've been in a realm victimized by multi-account abusers, and I've seen the damage it can do to a realm, so I take it pretty seriously. My experience ruined BM for me, after four years of commitment to one realm, it was pulled out from under me and many others. It took a full year and a half before I got the urge to return to this wonderful game.

It's looking like I approached this right, but I'll wait and see what others have to think before going through with it. Thanks for the feedback!  8)

Out of curiosity, what realm are you talking about?

Heen. I was the King at the time, and the perpetrator was directly involved in my RPs. Then one day the confession of multi-accounts came out, and all my hard work was for nothing, considering the perpetrator was the creator of the realm and I put 3-4 real life years into playing in that realm. It was like finding out you're adopted, I just felt like all my rps were a lie after that point. It really ruins the game for others, it's definitely a game killer for me. But I let it go and decided to start over with a new family a year and a half later. I'm happy I came back too, this game has changed a lot in the past 3 years.

Actually, it's that experience that made me stop, and think about what I was doing. So after giving it some thought, I brought up my question here on this post.

As long as you have abandoned the old account to deletion, and don't play it again, there won't be any problems.

Oh I will, already laid out a story and everything. I might post it to the rp boards.
