I just don't understand what causes this. Peasents protesting againts realms that have been allied for quite a long time or protesting againts a war that has been going on for ages.
How does this afect regions?
Peasants who don't like what is happening will be less happy, and it will have a negative effect on morale.
it's to do with the sympathy stat.... beats me what causes it to change. you can always look out for a diplomat to shift the stat one way or the other to make the message go away
You would think that, over time, the peasants would care less who your allies were. Heck, there were times in history when peasants did not know or cared who their King was. If the region lord is treating the peasants well, they wouldn't care if their biggest allies were trees.

If protesting because allies is the only problem your region has, then it really does not have any problem. It will remain at Core without you having to do anything about it.
