When you pause a normal char or advy, do you lose your unique items? Do they stay in the same condition as on the day you pasued (if you are able to keep them)?

Not sure about uniques, but they seem to function similarly to magic scrolls. They might still degrade though.
When I paused with 4 magic scrolls, I still had them all after unpausing.

If you're really that worried, why not pass it to a trusted keeper? That way if they degrade while paused they can at least get repairs done.
I'm 80% sure they degrade, same as skills.
you keep them but they will continue to degrade.
