What are raw materials in a smithy? how to get them and how do they effect the game exactly?
I noticed that witha lack of them i can still repair equipment yet not modify it, does that make sense?
They exist only in name. They have no effect on the game in any way.

Thats what i thought.
Yet this is what the game says under orders on dwilight in Fissoa:"Appearance - the smiths are closed, due to a shortage of raw materials."
It's really a shortage of workers. Is your population under 50%?

nope, production level is good as well.
means its a bug?
Isn't it related to production levels of a region?
If the smiths are not available, "shortage of raw materials" is always the message that will appear on the Orders page.
You can find out more about it by looking at the daily region report for the region. It should tell you "the smithy had to shut down because of" something.

But in some cases it is because of raw materials, right? Paisly's smithies work sometimes so I assumed due to the low production levels it only allows so much equipment repair and such.
it's flavor language, for the most part.

"Raw materials" aren't a thing.
Read the region report. It will give you the details on why the smithy is closed.

A relic of when we actually did have raw materials, I believe.
I don't remember seeing that message before the short-lived implementation of steel, wood, etc.

We never did.

They were never active.

Well, maybe they didn't change anything, but I sure do remember seeing production values of steel and wood and stone. Sure felt like steel was important, too, but maybe that was just us forecasting an eventual implementation.
The message about the resources being produced and used was added, but it was never hooked together. You had some production, reports, and you had some consumption reports. But so far as I know, they weren't ever actually added/subtracted. In fact, the production was never actually correct.

Sounds about right.
It LOOKED like it was working. :P

No there are no such reports for the last week.
Recruiting and repairing equipment works perfectly fine.
Also i must note this is only in Fissoa, in another continent and realm i do not have this problem.
