Title: The Wedding
Post by: cenrae on February 27, 2013, 11:49:22 PM
Well I enjoyed all the RPs for Khari and Rynns wedding. If anyone is interested in reading it I have compiled it all into a word document, 14 pages long.

That sounds like something that needs to be on the wiki.

Its insane how much has been done. I have been ignoring it all so far as I don't have time, but sometime this weekend I am going to read them all.

Coolz! I'm pretty sure we broke some sort of record for most notable persons in one place! Pity no one responded to that sermon though, h=that would have been interesting! How'd you like the Pendant Verdis thing? made that up on the fly and had Baal ok it.

Cenrae, can you email me the doc? I will PM you my address and I'll put it on D'Hara's Wiki somewhere.

I think Mathurin's sermon should be sent to the SA list and discussed, might lead to some cool dialogue.

I also pasted it in a document, just to have it there for when the time goes on and I want to reread stuff again. Same size as yours, so good job! 8)

Yeah ill email it to anyone that wants it. My original post was from my phone as this one is. I assume I can upload a word doc to the forums. Ill try that as soon as I can.

Someone from IRC suggested posting it to http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/Holy_Matrimony

Looks like it hasn't been updated in awhile, but it looks good.

I thought the entire ceremony was a pretty interesting confluence of biggest notables of Dwilight. The way the VE and SA elements blended was very cool, both with the pendant and Mathurin appearing as a simple priest and giving such a down-to-earth sermon. This kind of story development is why I love Battlemaster.

Uploaded the Wedding document to this thread in post 1. If someone else wants to add it to Wiki that would be great. I simply dont have the time.

An observation from the event, and I mean no disrespect to the player, but Jonsu Himoura sure rubs off as bitchy, plus i had no idea she carried multiple castings of skulls in her robes...lol

NOOOOOOOO!

This sermon is to be put under wrap, cherished and protected, AND NEVER SHOWN TO ANYONE!

Oh Mathurin, why did you do this to me?  :'(

I was glad that someone else saw how damaging that sermon really was.

Mathurin basically said that it doesn't matter what religion you are in and that SA isn't better than any other religion except for OA.

Considering what is going on in Swordfell I think it would be great if that Sermon was brought out to the whole church. Maybe Abbigal shold have atended afteralll. Shame she had to return regiond and have them returned.

I'm not too worried about the sermon: where there's a quote from a religious leader there's a way to twist it, and its not as bad as it could have been.

I'm still surprised that no one has commented on the fact that the man who lead a huge war of extermination to wipe Sanguis Astroism from the face of the earth was allowed to perform a religious ceremony in the temple of Mimer.

Either Constantine's grown incredibly grumpy in his old age or the rest of SA has just gone incredibly soft....

Yeah, I think this was the issue more than anything. I think Rynn, Himeko, Ghaundan and most of the other major players at the event were too young or too distant to remember/know about it. Mathurin might have known as he was around then, but considering his general lack of involvement in the war I can imagine he might have forgotten the exact name.

Khari should have known however, considering that she was one of the nobles actively fighting against Baal's forces, though she obviously had RP reasons to keep quiet about it. It would have been interesting to have a member of the "old-guard" in attendance to call her out for it but I suppose its just as well; its not like we're in need of another controversy at the moment.

But Grimrog are no longer SA nor VE.

Well my memory must have forgotten about Baal. Which big event are we talking about?. I totally recognized his name.....

But in the big picture to Khari Baal was Rynns guest and elder of his faith. She needed to allow it to happen. VE should also not like Khari so much as she closed a magnificent temple in Farrowfield long ago when Kabrinskia was formed.

He was the Archon of Caerwyn who betrayed/declared war on Astrum and led the "League of Free Nations" (Caerwyn, Averoth, the Saxons, and some elements of Madina/Aurvandil) in a war to destroy SA. Basically responsible for the whole Caerwyn Crusade, the pillaging of most of southern Astrum and (at least indirectly) the death of Vasilif Rowan of Astrum.

But in the big picture to Khari Baal was Rynns guest and elder of his faith. She needed to allow it to happen. VE should also not like Khari so much as she closed a magnificent temple in Farrowfield long ago when Kabrinskia was formed.

I guessed as much and it makes sense, although of all the VE Elders Baal was probably the worst one Rynn could have invited. That said, its unlikely anything will come of it now that the wedding is over and apparently everyone who was there forgot who he was.

You can bet your sweet ass that you're right. I had heard about it OOCly, but definitely Ghaundan is too young to have lived that directly, and nobody has (that I recall) mentioned it to him ever IC. Otherwise, things might have gone *slightly* different. A pity it's all over now, but since nobody posted anything for a whole day, I decided it was high time to return home. Oh D'Hara, sweet D'Hara...

We don't have many other elders. He coulda asked Machiavel, but as Machiavel was supposed to lead the last wedding that kinda aborted, like not that long ago at all, it would have been a little awkward. Also, I, as a player, don't particularly love participating in this kind of RP. I like that it happens, but I find it hard to motivate myself to engage in long narratives like what was going on over there.

It's definitely been too long since the war. Several people forgot who Baal the Betrayer was. Not to mention that many of the Elders of SA weren't even members of SA back then. I bet several of them didn't even exist back then.

So, not too surprising that the people there didn't know who he was.

Jonsu's barrels of fun, at least from the perspective of playing a character that considers her his arch-nemesis.

On that note, Paul is glad to see retroactively the wisdom of not attending, though it sounds like it was a blast.

Hireshmont knew of Baals attendance. And remembered the history. But there's no way he would have spoken up. He will heckle Rynn over Rynn's numerous diplomatic gaffes--- but no way is he going to engineer a fresh one.

Hireshmont wasn't in SA during the war of course, and Terran never got very friendly with Caerwyn, but he knew enough to realize it would be bad news bears if anybody decided to dredge up old memories.

Which, again, is useful for some other hings relating to SA that Hireshmont has in the works...

That is a good thing to bring up here.

I told Cenrae that because it was such a high profile marriage (2 royals) I'd be willing to change my family name to JeVondair-Kye or some similar gesture denoting the union. I'm rather proud of it, IG and OOC. But apparently such things are against the rules?

I can't think of a better use for the name-change option... :'(

He hasn't. Perhaps he'll go there for his own honeymoon, though. But Asylon is so... uncivilized. So are the Zuma. I think Aegir or Libidizedd would be more to Machiavel's liking.

That makes me think of a great idea. I think I am going to start putting every region description of a city plus any that sounds good in a word document so Marco will have knowledge on places he visits, and can actually give answers to that.
