It's instant in my experience.
It is not instant. I don't believe any fame point is instant. You should see fame update by cleanup script a few hours post-full turn change. However, there are some bugs for lords and dukes' appointments being recorded in your family history that may affect the fame point. I also had to wait a few extra days for my recent lord and duke points, but I did get them eventually.
You don't get the fame point if you appoint yourself.
I was appointed, but did not appoint myself, so that's not the issue egamma.
Well, since Duke and Margrave are now separate positions, perhaps the devs forgot to split the corresponding fame point as well?
The fame points are separated already.
I can confirm earning the Duke fame points a couple of months ago.
