Do coastal regions get any sort of bonus to trade distance? I think it would ad some flavor if they did.
No.
I suspect they get a bonus to gold production though? Or, the length of their coastline contributes to their overall production.

Without infrastructure how would this work? Did every area along the coast of a country have strong over sea's trade? Certainly the argument could be made for important port cities with a large trade fleet might have a greater trade distance, but I would think that would be adding a complexity that we just don't need at this time.
I thought coastal regions did get a bonus, because back when the new trading system kicked in, lots of regions, especially in D'Hara, could simply no longer reach anyone as most adjacent regions were too far.

I'm going to check the market next time I'm in a port city on dwilight. It might be that they can still trade across the sea lanes.
Port cities get bonuses if they build the infrastructure to support trade: a marketplace. Of course it's the same bonus every region that builds a marketplace gets.
If I remember correctly, port cities automatically had access to its neighbours along sea routes. That may only be with a marketplace as I cannot see anytihng from my port with no marketplace at this time.
