No idea how but one of my characters actually got elected. What a surprise. So ironic too lol

It must be something in the surname. :P Who were you running against?

Referendum Results (1 hour, 19 minutes ago)
The referendum "Vote for the Ruler" has ended. Here is the final tally:
36 votes for Meivmayr D.
32 votes for Derwin II
11 votes for Wilhelm
9 votes for Aquitain
39 abstentions
64 votes were not cast.
The winning choice is therefore Meivmayr D., with 36 votes. A simple majority was required (i.e., 1 votes).
All hail to the new King, Meivmayr D. Lapallanch, King of Perdan, Royal of Perdan, Knight of Akesh Temple.
As a reminder, the full text of the referendum was:
This is an election for the position of Ruler (King), initiated automatically because the position was vacated.
All nobles of the realm will vote, each vote having the same weight.

2/3 of the nobles didn't vote or abstained.
Brilliant.
Edit: My avatar might give off the impression I'm being tetchy and sarcastic, but it is far from that.

Votes do get wasted if people don't pick the 2nd and the 3rd.
Perdan is pretty inactive at the moment I think. Probably really demoralized by the whole Atanamir thing.
-
A Lappalanch as ruler? Gods help us all...

You're right, I was thinking of the numbers differently. Fairly good vote then.

Gimme your lands!!! I crossed the river!
*And then you hear the trumpets that were in the closet for years*
*Flies away*
-
Mockery to be honest, less than a month in realm and vote King...
Well let see what happens
-
Indeed. If abstentions can pass a message, votes not cast are devoid of any meaning, as they cannot tell you if they came from people with just a single favorite candidate or from people not voting at all.
-
I think it's funny how this ended up, considering what the new ruler of Perdan agreed to give up. Poor, unappreciated Meivmayr.
-
Now Perdan has a queen ... Time for the handsome Gaston to enter.
-
I hear tables make a good gift
-
Shame on Perdan! Let's shake it up.
-
That they do, that they do.
A table has many uses.

Well she is just doing what I've tried to do. :/ But you know, Perdanese characters never trusted Meivmayr despite him fighting for Westmoor until the end. Oh well.
It has been an interesting journey for Meivmayr. Caligus to Fallangard, then to Westmoor and now Perdan. Westmoor was probably the only welcoming realm :( Well I guess my family's history isn't exactly friendly toward the southern alliance so it was expected. Westmoor was just a nice surprise.

Westmoor usually gave anyone who joined a 'clean skin'. It had a tradition going back as far as I can remember of letting waifs and strays wipe clean their past actions and make a fresh start. During my years in the realm, I can't remember anyone who joined ever being immediately met with hostility just because of their family name or history. If the Westmoorians became hostile to them, it was normally due to their actions in the realm.
-
Kudos to Westmoor. That's usually a good tradition for any realm to have. Castigating any character without good reason is never a good idea.
-
Don't get me wrong, when a Lapallanch joined Westmoor Ravier's first instinct was "Spai!". But Meivmayr proved himself otherwise and earned his respect the hard way.
On the topic of welcoming realms.. I'm in agreement with Lappy. I brought Malos home from FEI to Perdan. Not a single person welcomed him with the noted exception of an OOC note from Lappy. After re-establishing him in the CoH, he got an offer from Foxglove to come to Sirion and help try to heal the wounds there, and that's where he is now. Still no-one welcoming him bar the IC letters exchanged between Malos and Ecthelion. Now that latter one might be down to the fact he's a CoH priest.
On the flipside, I've always felt my characters were welcome in the smaller realms of EI. Ravier (and Serrin) were welcomed in Eponllyn without shadow of a doubt. I wonder whether it's a small vs. large kind of thing.
