Playing with the display options, one of them I don't see much use for - if you turn off the map you can't see what you're doing.
My base FPS (with everything on) is 28.
With terrain off is goes to 55
UI off gives no change
Image effects off goes to 37
Using:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
For comparison, my numbers:
2010 iMac:
base: 25
terrain off: 60
map off: 30
image effects off: 28
GUI off: 25
MacBook Air:
base: 15
terrain off: 30
map off: 16
image effects off: 19
GUI off: 15
Build 14 numbers:
iMac:
base: 27
terrain off: 60
map off: 30
image effects off: 30
MacBook Air:
base: 15
terrain off: 30
map off: 16
image effects off: 19
so basically, it was for nothing. But maybe someone else sees a difference?
Build 14 on MacBook Pro 2015
Base: 35
Terrain off: 60
Map off: 41
Image effects off: 47
Build 14 on Win 7 (x64)
I maintained a solid 60 FPS with all settings toggled.
2008 Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.67 Ghz
16 GB DDR3
EVGA GTX 950 2GB
I think it won't go above 60, so it's clear the terrain is eating my performance. Probably the forest. Thanks all. I will see what I can do.
Please guys, don't forget to post performance info using the current build. This is really important to make the game run on as many machines as possible.
60-62 FPS on my PC, all settings on. Build 16.
Proc: AMD A8-6410
VGA: AMD Radeon R5
Mem: 4GB
OS: Win 10 Pro 64bit
Build 17
With everything ON: 25 - 27 fps
With all forest OFF: 40 - 42 fps
With everything OFF: 60 fps
Thanks. There is an old and a new terrain/forest switch. Can you check both and compare which one gives better performance?
Build 14 on MacBook Pro 2015
Base: 26
Terrain off: 27
Map off: 45
Old forest on: 26
Terrain on, forests off: 30
All off: 60
(as another note, it does make the MacBook very hot when running...)

On my machine, new forest gives better performance about 3 - 4 fps. It's not much I think.
