Title: Concept: Player of the Month/Year Awards
Post by: Andrew on September 02, 2016, 09:47:52 PM
So, I had an idea earlier that maybe we'd foster some friendly competition while also foster better gameplay by having players elect a player of the month. The idea is pretty simple: each month players get to vote for one player or another based on how they play their characters, be they fun to play with, crafter of elaborate roleplays, or just unique. Each month out of the year would be a different person, and then at the end of the year, there'd be a player of the year award. The only rule would be that you can't vote for yourself.

As for what you'd get, I'm thinking maybe a badge of some sort for your profile(s), maybe some sort of other small reward thing.

Thoughts?

I remember Penchant doing something similar to this back in the days.

It was interesting to see who contributes to the community as players.

But who's going to do this? It is a lot of work.

Ideas started spinning in my head but most of all the question remained: how?

Most players communicate within realm only. Religions and guilds continent-wide are used far too few. So that would give the interesting characters in larger realms an advantage? Or am I getting this all wrong.

As I was thinking about it it sort of balances out because players vote for characters, say once per island, but players have multiple characters on different islands.

Then again, maybe not. Not sure on how this would work myself. Was just something to think about.

How about you add an entry Field to showcase player's work?

Also, make the vote game wide rather than island (as you were thinking earlier) it could be as simple as posting a game wide message and giving a link to a survey.  Top 5 candidates have their work posted (if any is provided) and then the players vote for the monthly winner.

How would you determine the top 5 candidates?

I'm all for that submission field though.

Most players communicate within realm only.
My main concern as well.
Wish we had more ways to communicate.

Wouldn't mind having a continent wide message group that you can turn on and off.

Pre-Poll where people are nominated and their work is posted (which is displayed for top 5)

If the player is in a bunch of small realms, then they haven't quite explored BM yet. This could give them motive to seek what else is outside their land. More so, rumors spread about those who do many things, an example being the Mayhems. I've never played with a mayhem, but I definitely know who it is.

That's just my thought however.
