Title: Nivemus History?
Post by: Blue Star on June 29, 2012, 01:41:09 AM
I was just wonder what is going on with Nivemus and what is it's past history since OR and was it Eladeaor? I haven't ever really been a big fan of the north mostly because of the distance to travel and such up there. So I am wondering if anyone would be willing to give us a recount of what happened up their to it's current state.

Nivemus is essentially the fulfilment of Sirion's promise to refound OR. After Sirion finished kicking Fontan's ass all over the map, Fontan finally surrendered and pledged to give Ashforth to Sirion to form the new realm. The duke-to-be went to Fontan, was appointed, and took the city to Sirion. He seceded from Sirion to form the new realm.

Peri could probably give you much more detail. He was ruler of Sirion for much of the end of the war.

They might have to do try again :p the Saxons are trying to take it over now. If that happens, I doubt I will let the realm live.

It was created as a better incarnation of OR, Sirion's longtime ally, and is, as Indirik said, the fulfillment of Sirion's promise to rebuild OR. There are a few former OR members(Monte Cristo, Olaf, Talius, myself), and a couple family members of OR members(Dagny Buonare is one), but we are mostly those from Sirion or from other places in the North.

Yes, Fontan pledged to give us Ashforth, it was stalled by Krimml joining Westmoor, then Fontan and Sirion worked to get Krimml back. After sometime, Fontan then consented to give Sirion Ashforth. It was a bloody long process.  :P

We needed to be able to secure Krimml before we could transfer the capital from Ashforth, and that meant getting walls around the city along with a garrison to hold them. That was anything but easy because we were all tapped out of family gold, our only RCs were those in Ashforth itself and population levels were critically low leading to minimal tax revenues. I was surprised we were able to turn things around in anything like the timeframe we were committed to.

Yes, Obito I believe revived the religion and replanted a sapling of the White Tree in Oroya. The original Order of the White Tree was destroyed when three families which controlled a bloc of Sirion and colluded with each other were banned by Erik Eyolf, I believe the religion disappeared with them.

Nice! Ragnell would have been very happy about it... if she were alive.  :-(

IIRC there was a white tree planted at the Indirik family estates in Montauban. A gift from one of the old Sirion rulers. I think the info is on the wiki on Balkeese's character page.

"One of the more unusual aspects of the estate is the presence of a rare and beautiful tree, planted in a prominent place in front of the manor. The tree is a rare Sirion Silver Elm from the Sacred Groves of Lissambar. The tree was a gift of friendship presented to Balkeese by Grand Justiciar Alexander, Duke of Parm, of Sirion."

Silver elms are quite white.

Also, it's probably a magic tree!

Well, they are white in color, but not in name.

Anyway, it had been years since that happened. And I'm no expert in Sirion lore.

Yeah, I know. But that's High Priest Obito's argument and he is sticking to it!
