Title: History of Atamara
Post by: Tom on August 11, 2012, 04:31:18 PM
Just like for the East Island, I have made a time-lapse video of 7 years of Atamara history:

Is fantastic!

It makes me sad when i see Carelia shrink, but at least i saw "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter", "Estuary Shores of Pasque'fora" and "Kronos' Burg" once again!

Thanks for the upload!

Wow.... It's really impressive how Darka and Talerium's borders actually never moved!

These are great, I look forward to the others.

Epic work Tom. Just epic. Brings back memories. Too bad I did not get to see Abington's expansion of Southern Ash Burn (or born can't remember) Islands.

That is a ton of fun to see the older flags and realm expansions and death. I'd forgotten some of the older ones on there from back when I first started. Plus you get to see the ebb and flow of the Barony's borders which is always cool and the time where we lost our namesake to Norland and Minas Ithil for a while.

This almost brought tears in my eyes.Epic really.Atamara is by far my favorite continent and i have a char there since 2006 .I joined many realms in the cont while always keeping 1 char in Darka .
It was always fun till now to be honest :D i hate the current war and maybe this video will bring back  some memories of the past glorious days.Amazing.

PS.I really miss the crazy goat Red Span realm, that realm was tons of fun.

Actually, the thing that strikes me the most is little most things have changed. See: The entire western half of the map.

We should blow it all up and start over.  ;D

Go ahead and do it. BM is a player-driven game. If you want something to happen, make it happen.

Tom,

Really nice looks amazing. Any chance you can take it back further say to when their was a North and South Darka? basically the beginning. Then we'd get the whole development!

If not this still is really great.

Tom's been saving the political map daily for the bast 7 years. AFAIK, that's as far back as it goes. What you see here is a movie map by flipping those jpg's like a flip-book.

Awesome. Simply, awesome. Can't wait for BT!  ;D

Just wondering though, with the political map gone, are you still saving maps? :)

Really enjoyed seeing the video. If there's one tale to take from it, it is that even on Atamara you can recover after teetering on the brink. The start of the video shows the final breaking of Tara after a long war. Follow her through the years though, and you see her long and painstaking return to empire. Doesn't always work out like. Ash Sea Islands got her islands back for a good while but Atamara did for her in the end!

For those interested in earlier history, there is still the Historic Map of Atamara  (http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/Atamara/Historic Map) from around May 2004 lurking on the wiki. Sadly if you want to delve any further into Atamaran history, the best you can do is to glean what knowledge you can from the Atamara Times (http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/Atamara Times). It definitely deals with things that happened in 2004 as it talks of Southasland but it's hard to put any dates on it. Either way, it's a good background of things that were driving Atamaran politics in the 2004-5 period. Worth a look.

Wow, looking at this, Hammarsett seems to never have made any progress. :O

Wait, someone thought Hammarsett had made progress at some point?

My Lords apparently think that by "absorbing Hammarsett and their nobles" we can win the war and destroy Coria and hold Shanandoah.

Surely we can at least do the "destroy Coria" part? Please?

I know they'd made progress. It was just short-lived.

Also, what've you guys got against Coria... We just want to eliminate Hammarsett.  :'( We're not that cute, tiny realm that's a puppet to the CE anymore? I thought puppets were cute.

It brings a tear to my eye seeing this and seeing Falasan again, but one day she will return to Atamara. "Lets not forget to blame Norland for Falasan's fall"

Too bad that Rs wasn't stable realm. They didn't have any basic line how to work with neighbours. Rs was a sad and exellent example what happen to realm which cannot be trusted.

I still miss couple of their Nobles even they needed soap badly  ;)

Hrmm... my first campaign as a newbie knight in Darka was wiping out Redspan. My first campaign as general of Darka... was wiping out Norland.

But you can't blame me for Avamar. It was dead before I started.
