question...

does that mean food is taken from the region? how much? or is it one of them thin air thing, as long as the region is producing?

Yes, food is taken from the region. But the amount is so miniscule that we don't even report it. For most units, even a full resupply will be just a few bushels. For small units, it will almost always be a single bushel.
